HILL, Mr. James "J.C." - Age 78, passed away Monday, July 20, 2026 in Clio, MI. Family hour 10:30 AM Monday, July 27, 2026, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Latrelle Holmes, officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd. Holly, MI. Family and Friends will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 AM Monday, July 27, 2026. Mr. Hill will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 10:00 AM - 4::00 PM Sunday. Mr. James Charles Hill was born August 12, 1947 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Harvey Mitchell and Vivian Lucille Hill (Holmes). Affectionately known as “JC”, he was reared in Flint’s St Johns neighborhood attended Flint Community Schools and was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam campaign. He endured the death of his only child, an infant daughter during his service years. The eldest of seven children, upon Honorably returning from service, he lovingly and willingly assumed the mantel as the bedrock for his Mother and his siblings as God had granted wings to his Brother Allen Ray at the tender age of 16 and gifted the womb of his mother with “Nena” 24 months earlier. J.C. was blessed with a very giving and loving heart. A man of style, he enjoyed many facets of life and during his young adult years resided in Toledo, OH, Pontiac and Detroit MI. During the late 60’s through the decade of Disco; he wore the latest apparel and knew and could do all the dances. He could cook anything and was always the family go to for peach cobbler. Upon his return to Flint, J.C. attended Edwards Beauty & Barber College where he mastered the field of Cosmetology and Ross Medical College where he pursued certification as an LPN. J.C gained employment with General Motors and despite the turbulence of lay-offs, plant closures, and strikes, he retired after thirty-years of service. During his life he had fine automobiles, flashy jewelry, talking parrots, iguanas’, python snakes, and the cleanest fish aquariums in town J.C. was baptized at an early age at the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, under Pastor J. Watkins. As an adult he joined the New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church under Bishop Odis A. Floyd, where he joyfully served in the Inspirational Choir, Ushers, and Nurses Ministry. Mr. James Charles “J.C.” Hill leaves to cherish his memory: 3 brothers, Charles Troy Hill, Jr., Latrelle (Katrina) Holmes and Skeeter (Donna) Holmes; sister, Ernine (Willie) Smith; uncles, Eddie Lee Smith and Joe (Lawana) Green; aunts, Natlean (Gregg) Campbell, Antionette Chapman, and Brenda Adams; nieces and nephews, Monique (Tim) Tyler, Kaleka Lewis, Monique Brown, Dwan Brown, Troy Brown, Troulanda Hill, Terria Hill, Latrice Holmes, Latrelle Holmes, Jr., JaCoreyon Holmes, Houston (Ashley) Adair Jr. Ernine (Tony) Simon and Darese Bray; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Jay Shelton, Anthony Beacoats and Andre & family. Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his paternal father, Harvey Mitchell; mother, Vivian Holmes & Mr. Ernest (Skeeter) Holmes; brothers, Allen Ray Hill and Clarence Anthony Hill; sister, Sharon Lucille Lewis; along with a host of other dear and forever beloved family members including grandmother & aunt, Lucille Kyle; and grandfather, Jessie Green Sr. The family would like to express special thanks to Argentine, Briarwood, and Maplewood Manor Adult Assisted Living Facilities, Dr. Schumaker, New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, and all of our family and friends who assisted J.C. along his courageous battle. Acknowledgement We are most grateful for the gift of friends like you, who have been so kind and thoughtful during these hours of sorrow.
