Mr. James Monroe Harris Jr.

HARRIS, JR., Mr. James Monroe - Age 48, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd, with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Mr. Harris will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12 noon-8 p.m. Wednesday. Mr. James Monroe Harris Jr., was born to the union of James Monroe Harris Sr., and Adell Ruth (White) Harris on July 30, 1964, in Flint, Michigan. To this union were born siblings, Sonia K., Vanessa R. and Earland O. Harris. James Jr. was baptized at an early age by Pastor Alfred Robbs at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Flint; later attending Family Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Tellis Simon. James Jr., was a graduate of Northern High School, “Home of The Vikings” class of 1982, where he played the drums in the marching band and was very active in sports, including track and field and wrestling. James attended Western Michigan University where he pursued Para-legal studies and excelled in computer technology. James Jr. married Marguerite and to this union were born James M. Harris III and Lynnette. James used his computer and management skills while employed in the automobile parts and computer industry. James enjoyed assisting others in computer projects which included anniversaries, family reunions, memorial videos and rebuilding computer hard-drives. James was kind-hearted and never met a stranger. James Jr. is survived by his children, James III and Lynnette, wife, Marguerite, mother, Adell R. Harris-Eldridge, father, James Sr. (Bernestine) Harris; siblings, Sonia (Darryl) Harris, Vanessa (Dana) Harrison, Earland O. Harris; siblings, LaBama and Jamie Birt, Portia Odom, Jamille Richardson and Latrelle Eldridge; uncles, Robert (Jacqueline) White and Waymond (Leola) Harris; aunts, Elizabeth Harris and Anna Jean (Earl) Ridgell; special in-laws, ‘Pops’ Rev. James (Nettie) Wood; special ‘brother,’ Mitch Atkinson Jr.; nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. James Jr. was preceded in death by his loving and devoted grandparents, Karuth and Ollie White; 4 aunts; 13 uncles; and many other relatives.
