ELLISON-El, Mr. James H. - Age 84, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Willowbrook Manor. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2011 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11 a.m. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Mr. Ellison will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Monday. Mr. James H. Ellison-El was born November 21, 1926 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the son of Charlie Ellison-El and Jessie (Andrews) Ellison. James attended Barnes Community School in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He also attended Pines Vocational and Technical School, where he obtained a certificate in Tailoring and Barbering. James received an Honorable Discharge from the U. S. Army before he came to Flint in 1954 to work for General Motors. He worked at Buick Motor Division, Plant 36, for approximately 46 years and was a member of UAW Local 599. James was married to Dorothy (Small) Ellison for 60 years. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, gardening, cooking, working in the yard and spending time with his family. James was a member of the Moorish Science Temple of America #19, where he served as Treasurer for more than 50 years, at the time of his death he was Treasurer Emeritus. Mr. James H. Ellison-El leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Dorothy (Small) Ellison; son, James (Ann) Ellison, Jr. of Pine Bluff, AR; daughter, Jessie Ann Ellison of Queens, NY; brother, W.B. Ellison; 8 grandchildren including special granddaughter, Sherlyn Wilson; 4 great-grandchildren; special niece, Angela Johnson; loving cousin, Charles (Jimmie) Winslow; a host of nieces and nephews; special friend, K.C. Curtis Hudson and other beloved relatives and dear friends. Mr. Ellison-EL was preceded in death by his daughters, Regina Simmons, Jean Blondie Taylor and Marilyn Sue Patterson; grandson, Antonio Smith; parents, Charlie Ellison-El and Jessie (Andrews) Ellison; brothers, Louis Ellison-El, Sr. and Clarence Ellison, Sr.; and son-in-law, Floyd Patterson.
