Mr. James Levon Elbert

Elbert, Mr. James Levon - Age 67, passed away Friday, March 9, 2018 at his residence. Family hour 1:30 PM Friday, March 16, 2018 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM Pastor Latrelle Holmes officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM. Mr. Elbert will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday. Mr. James Levon Elbert was born March 2, 1951 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Myrtle and James Elbert. He graduated from Flint Northwestern High School, “Class of 1969” and attended Lincoln University. James was a member of the Saginaw Valley Consistory #71 of the Masonic Order. He was employed at Hurley Medical Center, Zerka’s Food Center butchering meat and General Motors Corporation where he retired. James was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Bonnie (Habern) Elbert. He enjoyed watching all sports, Law & Order, Criminal Minds and being with his family and friends. James also enjoyed playing Horse Shoes, listening to music and dancing. He loved to twirl you around and around. James was best at playing Tonk and Dominoes. Mr. James Levon Elbert leaves to cherish his memory: 2 daughters, Crystal (Joseph) Johnson and Michele (Gerald) Elbert-Pano; 4 sons, Roosevelt Elbert, Daryl Adams, Timothy Adams and Allen Adams, all of Flint; grandchildren, Johnathn, Cashmir, Demetrius, Kenyal, Gerald, Gequez, Joselyn, Gerele, Avant, Jalen and Demarius Adams; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Valorie (Earnest) Davis, Denise (Oscar) Knuckles and Sandra Shields; brother, Carlos Elbert; 7 nieces, Gyva, Latris, Corlius, Gracia, Karienne, Janise, Quarise and LaKeisha; 9 nephews, Robert Jr. Adonis, Taray, Robert, Arcenio and Ronnie Elbert Jr., Mario and Devin Jones, and Calvin Scott; cousins, the Lattimore, Duckett, Gates and Green families; mother-in-law, Thelma Habern; 3 sisters-in-law, Marshilla Johnson, Carla Elbert and Shirley Elbert; 4 brothers-in-law, Tyrone, Rickey, Solman and Timothy Habern; a host of other cousins including special cousins, Rodney Gates, Johnny Walker and Paula Duckett; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Elbert was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Elbert; son, Samuel Adams; parents, Myrtle and James Elbert; sister, Karen Scott; brothers, Robert, Clayton and Ronnie Elbert; nephews, Antwan Shields and Oscar Knuckles Jr.; and sister-in-law, Theresa Elbert.
