Mr. James Henry Daniels

DANIELS, Mr. James H. - Age 83, passed away Monday, October 9, 2017 at his residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Monday, October 16, 2017 at New Creation Church of God, 3472 Lennon Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Rev. Dr. Herbert L. Banks, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Monday. Mr. Daniels will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10:00 AM-6:00 PM Sunday. James Henry Daniels transcended from life to his heavenly home on Monday, October 9, 2017, at his residence. James was born to the late James Riley & Ella (Staton) Daniels on April 15, 1934 in Greenville North Carolina. James completed his high school education at C.M. Epps High School and furthered his education at Morgan State University. During this time he was drafted into the Air Force. He later moved to Flint, Michigan where he met and married Mary Ann Smith. From that union God blessed them with James Leon, Maria Ann, Alesia, and Robert “Bobby”. He always had a strong work ethic. He furthered his education at Mott College in an effort to increase his knowledge. After 44 years he retired from General Motors as a Skilled Trades Tool & Die Maker. James believed in the value of education. He encouraged and supported his children, grand children, great grands, nieces/nephews and cousins, in all their educational endeavors. James gave his life to Christ at an early age. He loved and believed in living a Christian life, no one could tell him about what was in the Word, he thought he knew it all. He trusted and believed in God with his whole heart. He used to say “when God is ready for me to leave, I am ready to go”. James leaves to cherish his memory: sister, Cora Neelon of Washington DC; two daughters, Debra J. Winston of Baltimore, MD and Alesia (Lisa) Daniels of Flushing MI; four grand children, Shannan Taylor, James P. (LaKesha) Murry III, all of Baltimore MD, Alexis Daniels of Flint, MI and Michael D. (Cristi) Kelly II of Minneapolis, MN; thirteen great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Michael Kelly, Sr.; sister-in-law, Hattie Jean Daniels; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and a special niece, Ivy Blount who was always at his beck and call. James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Ann (Smith) Daniels; daughter, Maria Ann (Daniels) Kelly; son, James Leon Daniels “Poochie”; grandson, James Kelly; two sisters, Betty Daniels and Elizabeth Thomas; three brothers, Moses, Sam and Curtis Daniels; and special friend, Anne “Marie” D’Angelo. A special thank you to Mr. Russell Franklin for the special care of our father/papa/uncle and friend.
