COLE SR., Mr. James Roosevelt - Age 71, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Jeff Anderson Medical Center in Meridian, Mississippi. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Michael Bryant officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Cole will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Friday. Mr. James Roosevelt Cole, Sr. passed away Thursday June 4, 2015 at Jeff Anderson Medical Center in Meridian, MS. He was born Wednesday, August 4, 1943 to George Wesley Cole and Lydia Henson Cole in DeKalb Kemper County, MS. During his youth he joined Mt. Zion Moscow Missionary Baptist Church in DeKalb, MS. He was a 1962 graduate of Whisenton High School in DeKalb, MS. Mr. James Roosevelt Cole, Sr. moved to Flint, MI in 1962 where he joined St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral administration of Dr. J.S. Hopkins, Pastor Emeritus. On Saturday, August 7, 1965, he was united into Holy Matrimony to Eleanor Vashtie Bowen. He was employed at General Motors Corporation for 33.9 years, and a UAW Local 659 member. He loved gardening, watching western movies, farming, fishing, sports, BBQing and spending time with his grandchildren. He will always be remembered for his famous quotation phrase “Hello Somebody.” Mr. James Roosevelt Cole, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory three wonderful children daughters Darcele Cole (Kenneth) Robinson of Flint, Teresa Cole of Grand Rapids, MI; Son, James (Tometrick) Cole, Jr. of Flint; 9 grandchildren, Kenneth Robinson II, Kaleb Robinson, Christopher Cole, Rasheed Miller, Khyra Robinson, Taijuanna Miller, JaTayvia Cole all of Flint, Frank Kelly III and Sharmaine White of Grand Rapids, MI; 4 sisters, Betty Cole Johnson of Atlanta, Ga; Dorothy Jean Cole Leggins and Mary Francis Cole Bryant of Chicago, IL and Margaret Ray of DeKalb, MS; brother, Henderson Cole of Dekalb, MS; brother-in-law, Theodore Bowen; 2 sisters-in-law, Bell Nance and Mary Lee Rankins both of Flint; special nephew, Humphrey Cole; special nieces, Lori Bowen, Patricia Patrick, and Shirley Pratt; special friends, Wavie Cox, Phillip Daniels and Mr. Henry Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews, grea- nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. James Roosevelt Cole Sr. was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor (Bowen) Cole; parents, George and Lydia Cole; 3 sisters, Oneida Lileton, Esther Vaughn, Georgia Mae Cole; brother, Virgil B. Cole and grandson, Kendrick J. Robinson. .
