TOWNSEND, Mrs. Jacquelyn - Age 62, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023, at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:30 AM Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Refuge Temple Church of Flint, 4400 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Elder Matthew Jackson, officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Tuesday. Mrs. Townsend will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Monday. Jacquelyn Jeanette Townsend, age 62, was born in Flint, MI, on February 2, 1961. On October 8, 2023, she transitioned from this life to rest in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Jackie attended Merrill Elementary, Emmerson Intermediate, Northwestern and Northern High Schools in Flint, Michigan. She worked various jobs in the customer service industry until she found her calling as a healthcare provider and administrator. Eventually, becoming a manager of two group homes. Like her mother, Jackie was hard-working and ran her group homes like a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and a Chief Operating Officer (COO). She was serious about the care provided to her clients. In fact, her love for those who could not fully care for themselves often extended itself to the clients, sharing many holiday dinners with us. Jackie loved her immediate family and those she considered family, but especially her children. Shortly, before her passing, she was asked the question, “What concerns you the most about leaving this earth one day?” Without hesitation, she replied, “I want to leave this earth knowing my children are positioned correctly in life- that they are happy and healthy.” Jackie was a realist and very practical. Tasha, her daughter, said, “My mom and I spoke daily on the phone. One day, I was sharing with her a challenge I was facing. My mom said, “Tasha, life is what you make it. So, what are you doing to do about it?” Quick-witted, and outspoken at times, Jackie had the ability to command a room, when the need arose. She possessed a quiet, inner strength that could only have come from God. Her last months were a testament to God's Love. After a particularly rough night in the hospital, she testified to the Power of God, singing, “In the Name of Jesus. We have the victory!” Death, where is thy sting? Oh, grave, where is thy victory! Jacquelyn Jeanette Townsend leaves to cherish her memory: husband of 17 years, Huda Howard Townsend Sr.; children, Rendal (Unika) Odom, Rodric (Mandy) Odom, LaTasha Wilson, and Henry Huda (Olivia) Townsend Jr.; sisters, Wonda Bearyman and Jasmine Myles; honorary sisters, NaRotha Ogden, Deb Watkins, Janice Jones, Patti Prince, and Nancy Voilette; grandchildren, Deonica Jackson, Alaysia Gatewood, Le’Asiah Odom; DeWan Odom; Kaeli Stocker, La'Aundra Reign Archie, and Santino Townsend; great-grandchildren, Rylee Martin and Joh’Kae Hanson; uncle, Mr. Louis “L.C.” (Lois) Bell, Jr, of Haughton, LA; in-laws, Julia Scruggs, Hazel Davis, James Townsend, Linda Prewitt, Anette (Monwell) McKee, Vernell Harris, Rosie Taylor, and Phillip Townsend; a host of nieces and nephews; special family and friends, nieces and nephews, Kim Armstrong, Alicia Bearyman, Candace Myles, Shakera (Osai) Robinson, Angielic Reed, Sarai McDonald, Shanika McCraney and LaTonya McCraney; nephews, Adam (Cymone) Bearyman, Leslie Price, MarQues Ogden-Colston, and Timothy House; grandnieces, Teriyonna Armstrong, Kevin Jr. and Kameron Nash, Andre Armstrong; Cheyanne Bearyman, Karsyn Bearyman, Kyrah Bearyman, Adam Bearyman Jr., Aubree Bearyman; Zuri Robinson, Osai Robinson Jr.; Lailah Reed and Aubryelle Wilson; special cousins, Gloria (Bobby) Jean Davis; Bobby Wong; John, Farron, and Stacey Hall; special friends, Brenda and Patricia Isom, Carol Sauls, and her dear friend Tiana Tanae Isom, whom Jackie loved like a daughter; Monica McBride, Patti, and Kristina Prince, Ares “Big Daddy” Hill Calvin (Paula) Prewit.
