Mrs. Jacquelyn Delores Quarles

QUARLES, Mrs. Jacquelyn Delores - Age 85, passed away Monday, September 7, 2020 at her residence. Mrs. Quarles will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Wednesday, September 16, 2020 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Interment 12:00 Noon Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, 5175 E. Bristol Rd., Burton, MI. Mrs. Jacquelyn Delores Quarles was born August 28, 1935 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the daughter of James and Clara Mayfield. In 1959, Jacquelyn graduated from Stillman College in Tuscaloosa and moved to Flint, Michigan. That same year she met and married Lomax “Buddy” Quarles and from this union, 3 children were born. They were married for 46 years before Mr. Quarles passing in 2005. Jacquelyn worked as a Social Worker for over 35 years. She also worked for the Flint Board of Education, Friend of the Court and the State of Michigan. In 1994, she was named as one of the Most Successful African-American Women in the State of Michigan for her social work in the community. Jacquelyn dedicated her life to helping others. Mrs. Jacquelyn Delores Quarles leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Bermicia Quarles of Atlanta, GA; 2 sons, James Quarles of Flint and Randall Quarles of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Corey (Joy) Quarles of Fayetteville, GA, Kenneth (Corelle) Burton Jr. of Douglasville, GA, Randall and Kennedy Quarles of Lithia Springs, GA, Maura (Monty) Lovelace and Ross (Dalia) Dixon, both of Atlanta, Ga; great-grandchildren, Jalen, Jada, Mic’Keal, Jalen, Emory and Ace, all of Atlanta, GA; 2 sisters, Bernice Taylor of Dayton, OH and Genese Rutledge of Bronx, NY; nieces, Lori Harvey, Kris Harvey, Pam Quarles, Valerie Taylor and Carla Rutledge; nephews, Eric Harvey, Norman Harvey, Walter Rutledge and Barry Rutledge; a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Quarles was preceded in death by her husband, Lomax “Buddy” Quarles; parents, James and Clara Mayfield; brother, Wilbur Mayfield; sister-in-law, Barbara Harvey; brothers-in-law, Fred Taylor, Joseph Quarles and Walter Rutledge. The family would like to express special thanks to Hospice Medical Team, Ms. Williams and Kalisha Morgan.
