HOUSTON, Ms. Jacqueline - Age 57, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Avalon Hospice. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Church Without Walls Ministries, 6202 Dupont St., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Martez Warren officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Ms. Houston will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12 noon-8 p.m. Friday. Ms. Jacqueline Denise Houston “Ms. Jackie” was born March 22, 1955 in Flint, Michigan., the daughter of Gertrude (Charlie) Clemons of Flint and the late Cecil Ray Thornton I. “Ms. Jackie” lived in Flint all of her life and graduated from Flint Northwestern High School, "Class of 1973." In 1997, she graduated from Detroit College of Business with her Associate Degree in Computers. “Ms. Jackie” loved to have fun and play cards as she was a member of the Flint Pinochle Club. She enjoyed playing and coaching volleyball, softball, and bowling. “Ms. Jackie” also enjoyed playing Dominoes and Acey Ducey with her family. Ms. Jacqueline Denise Houston “Ms. Jackie” leaves to cherish in her memory: 3 daughters, Sharrice (DeShawn) Wilson of Zion, IL, Tenise (Darwin) Hence and Tamara Houston both of Flint; 12 grandchildren, KyAra Thornton of Prairie, TX, Jazs’mne Wilson of Washington D.C., DeShawn Wilson Jr., of Zion, IL, ZyAra Williams, Shaquese Pearson, Vanthony Wyatt, Javonte’ Houston, De’Quarius Garrett, A’Kera Chaney, Darwin Hence Jr., Destiny Hence and Serenity Houston; mother, Gertrude (Charlie) Clemons, all of Flint; 5 sisters and 3 brothers, Phyllis (Eugene) Cole, Cecil Ray Thornton II, and Felecia Thornton of Flint, Cassandra Curtis of Madison Heights, MI, Clemie (Tammi) Thornton of Savannah, GA, Cedrick Thornton and LeAndrea Thornton of Gary, IN; special friend, Willie Blount of Flint; 20 nieces and nephews; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins including special cousins, Sharon Miller and Diane Martin; and dear friends, Marietta Young and Betty J. Wilson. Ms. Houston was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Ray Thornton I; nephew, Tobias Thornton; and a host of other family and friends.
