BROWN, Mrs. Jacqueline - Age 63, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Avalon Hospice. Family hour 11 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Greater Redeemer Tabernacle, 6815 Verdun, with funeral service commencing at 12Noon, Eld. Michael L. Hairston officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11 a.m. Thursday. Mrs. Brown will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1-8 p.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Jacqueline Brown was born March 15, 1947 in Flint, Michigan, the eldest daughter of Ophelia Matlock and Emmit Jenkins. Jacqueline graduated from Flint Northern High School, “Class of 1965”. She was employed for 20 years with General Motors, retiring in 1996 and was a member of UAW Local 651. Jacqueline devoted her life to Christ and her work spoke volumes about her love for the Lord. She was an active member of Greater Redeemed Tabernacle for 17 years. Jacqueline was the Pastor’s Aide and fulfilled this position faithfully. “Sister Jackie” as she was affectionately called by her church family, held positions as the president of “Young People in Christ”, where she worked with youth of all ages; Vacation Bible School Coordinator; head of the Outreach Ministry and Hospitality Committee. She skillfully and single-handedly orchestrated the interior decorating for the entire church for all activities. Jacqueline was equally skilled and masterful in the church kitchen, insuring that all that dawned the doorsteps of the church received a delicious meal. She leaves to cherish her memory: children, Wilfred Arnold (Kimberly) Brown Jr., Donyele R. Darrough and Aaron Z. (Brandi) Brown, all of Flint and CW3(P) Felicia R. Banks of Fort Lee, VA; 14 grandchildren; mother, Ophelia Matlock; siblings, Caroline A. Dudley and Phillip R. (Brenda) Dudley of Flint, Terry L. Douglas of Grand Rapids, MI and Myron (Leslie) Dudley of Lansing, MI; and a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her father; grandmother, Mary Moore; and son-in-law, Major Willie T. Banks II. The family would like to express special thanks to cousin, Minister Stephanie Montgomery, family, friends and Greater Redeemed Tabernacle for their support during this difficult time.
