Mr. Jack Lark Jr.

LARK JR., Mr. Jack - Age 85, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2015 at his residence. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Supt. Lamar Griggs officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Mr. Lark will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Tuesday. Mr. Jack Lark was born April 17, 1930 in Tuscaloosa, AL. the son of Francis Duncan and Jack Lark, Sr. He attended Independence High school and Spellman College in Tuscaloosa. Jack was joined in Holy Matrimony to Rosetta Lark on November 19, 1952 in Tuscaloosa, AL. He moved to Flint with his wife in 1955. He was a member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, where he was one of the founder’s under the leadership of Pastor B.T. Anderson. Jack worked for Chevrolet Truck & Bus, a division of General Motors, for over 38 years. Mr. Jack Lark, Jr. leaves to cherish his memory his children, Jaqueline (Aubrey) Porter, Gloria Lark, Mahaley ‘Mavis’ (fiancée, Derek Eason) Freeman, all of Flint and Jack (Kim) Lark III of Macomb County, MI; grandchildren, Chantel Edwards of Lansing, MI, Ronald (fiancée, Jackie Smith) Gildersleeve, Jonathan (fiancée, Esperanza Torres) Smith, Jon Freeman Jr., Rodney Backins, Jr., Bryan Lark, Ronnie Lark, all of Flint, Jerald Lark of Macomb County, MI, and Aubrey Porter Jr. of Indianapolis, IN; great-grandchildren, Eathen and Gaven Blackmer, Camron Gildersleeve, Naveah Smith, Olivia Smith, Bryelle Lark, Bryan Lark Jr., and Jacson, all of Flint; 3 sisters, Frances Ann Martin of Tuscaloosa, AL, Emma Wheeler of Flint, and Henrietta Duncan of Washington, D.C.; sister-in-law, Sue Duncan of Flint; 2 god-daughters, Yvonne Bryant and Maryann Griggs; god-son, Pastor Lamar Griggs; special nieces, Catrina Simpson of Clarkston, MI, Theresa, Valerie, and Patricia Naylor, all of Flint, Pamela Williams of Chicago, IL, Susan Aneia of Dacula, GA; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Virginia Giggs and Charles Liggins. Mr. Jack Lark, Jr. was preceded in death by his wife, Rosetta Lark; mother, Francis Duncan; father, Jack Lark, Sr.; grandson, Jack Lark IV; brother, Sam Duncan; 3 sisters-in-law, and 3 brothers-in-law. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Katneni and staff, the Home and Hospice Advantage staff; special thanks to Nurse’s Rebecca, Sara, and nurse aide Scott, for the kind and loving help they provided to our dad and to us as well. Thanks to Willie (Cup) Duncan and Rufus Duncan for daily visits and for keeping us encouraged.
