ODNEAL, Mr. J B Jr. - Age 87, passed away Monday, September 5, 2022, at Symphony of Linden, Linden, MI. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, September 16, 2022, at Family Worship Center Church, 3280 N. Linden Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Timothy R. Stokes and Pastor Tanya C. Stokes Host Pastor, Pastor James Hodo, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:00 AM Friday. Mr. Odneal will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Thursday, with family present to receive friends from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM. Mr. JB Odneal Jr. was born May 6, 1935 in Crawford, Mississippi, the son of JB “Tump” and Bessie Will Gray Odneal. JB was raised in Crawford. He met the love of his life, Johnnie Hairston and they were married on February 8, 1955. They moved to Flint, Michigan in that same year and raised five wonderful children. JB was a devoted husband to his wife until her passing in 2013. He was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. JB retired from Chevrolet Manufacturing “Chevy in the Hole”, a division of General Motors Corporation after over 30 years of service. You could find JB at many local sporting events around the Flint area such as: high school, AA and Mott Community College basketball games or at Berston Field House enjoying some baseball. He enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams, the Minnesota Vikings and the New York Knicks. JB loved to play Dominoes and Checkers, and often did so at Hasselbring Senior Center. He always had a good joke or laugh to share with everyone. Whenever you saw JB, it was guaranteed that he was dressed “sharp.” Mr. JB Odneal Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Verlinda Odneal; 4 sons, Curtis Odneal, JB (Shirley) Odneal, Glenn (Myra Dawson) Odneal and James (Alice) Odneal; 14 grandchildren, Dwayne Odneal, Aaron Odneal, Quionana Odneal, Brandi Odneal, Deshawn (Faith) Dawson, all of Flint, Alisa Threlkeld of Conyers, GA, Daniel Lewis III of Sterling Heights, MI, Andre (Sarah) Odneal of Lansing, MI, Ericka Odneal of Indianapolis, IN, Lashantel (Adrian) Robertson of Johnson City, NY, Kelly Fielder, Kimberly Fielder, Katrina Fielder and Krystal (Deonte) Carter, all of Flint; 10 great-grandchildren, Jaylen Odneal of Charlotte, NC, Riley Dawson, Ryan Dawson, Jayden Odneal, all of Flint, Mia, Jada, Drea and Lena Odneal, all of Lansing, MI, Adrian Odneal and Landis Robertson of New York; 2 sisters, Mary (Mose) Tucker of Swartz Creek, MI and Barbara Jean Brooks of Flint; brother, N.F. (Harriette) Odneal; aunts, Earnestine Gray and Virginia Gray; sisters-in-law, Margret Smith, Bernice Watson, both of Memphis, TN and Hattie O’neal; brothers-in-law, James (Lacreschia) Hairston, Jimmy (Nina) Hairston, and Sam Lyde; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Thelma Rodgers, Cousin Mary Dulaney and Ann Harris. Mr. Odneal was preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Odneal; parents, JB and Bessie Odneal; sisters, Queen Sykes, Gerladine Lyde, and Essie Peat; brother, John Robert O’neal and Willie O’neal; sisters-in-law, Lizzie Hairston, Helen O’neal and Barbara Hairston; brother-in-law, George Hairston; aunts, Nettie Bell, Harriett Dickerson, Josie Mae Hairston and Hattie Harris; uncles, Johney Louis Gray Sr., Odis Gray, Mose Gray Jr., James Gray, Simon Gray, Jethro Gray, Legree Gray.
