Izell Kirkland-McCaskill

KIRKLAND-McCASKILL, Mrs. Izell - Age 73, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2005 at Genesys Health Park. Family hour 10:30AM Thursday, May 26, 2005 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church 5443 N. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM. Pastor Alfred L. Harris, Sr. officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Thursday. Mrs. Kirkland-McCaskill will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Wednesday. Sis. Izell Kirkland-McCaskill was born December 30, 1931 in Neshoha County, Philadelphia, Mississippi, the daughter of Sylvester and Ardie Kirkland. Sister Kirkland-McCaskill was a very warm and caring person. She was raised in a Christian home. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at the Evening Light Church of God, in Philadelphia, MS. Izell received her education at Hopewell High School, and graduated with honors "Class of 1949." She also attended Alcorn A&M College. After moving to Flint in the early 50's, she united with 12th Street Church of God, now Flint Community Church of God. In the 70's, she became a faithful member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Senior Usher Board, until her health declined. Sis. Kirkland-McCaskill was employed many years with Herllick Drug Stores, the Flint Board of Education Custodial Dept and retired from Genesee Intermediate School District. Izell was a care provider to many neighboring children including the Bryant, Williams and Forte' families. She loved music, sports, houseplants, knitting, gardening, family gatherings and especially loved watching baseball. Sis. Kirkland-McCaskill leaves to cherish her precious memory: 2 daughters, Teresa (Michael) Lee of Atlanta, GA; devoted daughter and caregiver, Sandra Felder-Booth of Flint; son, Duel (Julie) Felder of Evansville, IN; 13 grandchildren; 4 stepchildren; many nieces and nephews of Flint and Indiana; special nieces, Debra Lynn Stone of Flint, Julia (Mack) Earnest of Philadelphia, MS, Ronald Hopson of Flint, Anthony and Victor Kirkland of Indiana; special cousins, Hattie M. of Detroit, MI, Ruth of Meridian, MS, special cousin and friend, Barbara Kirkland; sister-in-law, Valine Kirkland of Gary, IN; dear friends: aunt, Dolly; uncle, David Lackey, Lavern Smith, Mary Daily, Julia Wagoner, all of Flint; the Moore, Kirkland, Jackson and Wilson families, the neighbors in the 500 block of W. Gracelawn St., especially the Bryant, Rison, Clemons, Alexander, Henry and Witherby families. The family would like to express special thanks to the Staff of Genesys Hospital. Dr. S. Sankran, Dr. Misra, the 3rd Floor Nurses especially Rose, Elizabeth and Doris. Mrs. Kirkland-McCaskill was preceded in death by her husband, Ike McCaskill; husband and father of her beloved children, T. C. Felder; daughter, Ardie Marie Felder; parents, Sylvester and Ardie Kirkland; sister Mollie Hopson; brothers, L. Gene Jackson and T. C. Kirkland; grandson, Aaron Lee; niece, Carolyn Johnson.
