GOODRUM, Mr. Ivory Jr. - Age 74, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2024, at his residence. Family 10:00 AM Friday, December 13, 2024, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Funeral Home 10:00 AM Friday, December 13, 2024. Mr. Goodrum will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM with family present from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM to receive friends. Mr. Ivory Cornelius Goodrum Jr. was born on April 29, 1950 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late Ivory Cornelius Goodrum Sr. and the late Gloria Dolores Palmer Goodrum. Ivory, lovingly known as “The Junior”, accepted Christ at an early age, later becoming part of the Vernon Chapel AME church family. He was educated in the Flint Community Schools graduating from Northwestern High, “School Class of 1968.” Ivory started his employment with a newspaper route and later working for Hamady Brothers Food Stores. He was hired by Buick, a division of General Motors, and attended Mott Community College as part of their Skilled Trades Program, becoming a Millwright and retiring after 42 years of service. Ivory enjoyed skating, ping pong, dancing, cooking and grilling. He had an immense love for and collection of music of every genre. “The Junior” mastered the art of gardening, always proud to show off and share the fruits of his labor with friends and family. Ivory was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and cousin. He enjoyed life and lived by the mantra that he was not going to allow anyone to steal his joy. Ivory loved God and was devoted to his family. He was also a devoted friend. Junior was charismatic, thoughtful, intelligent and humorous. He used humor, food and music as a way of connecting with people. Ivory, age 74, made his transition on Thursday November 21, 2024 at his residence. Ivory Cornelius Goodrum Jr. will be forever cherished in the memories of his loving wife, Cheryl Adkins; daughter, Ivina (Oliver) Flowers of Laveen, AZ; sons, Richard (Hanh) Goodrum of Junction City, KS and Damon (Keisha) Redmond; grandsons, Jonathan Carter, Robert Ivory Bell, Garrick Cornelius Goodrum, Gavin Ivory Goodrum, Richard Charles Goodrum Jr., and Andrew Michael Tran, Lorenzo Redmond; granddaughter, Kiara (James) Johnson; sisters, Cheryl Short of Saginaw, MI, Danon (Dean) Goodrum-Garland of Grand Blanc, MI, and Roslynn (Min. Bobby Jr.) Banks of Flint, MI.; sisters-in-law, Sandra Cabine and Charlotte Davis; many aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of nieces and nephews including special aunts Marjorie Hampton of Chicago, Il, and Joann Birden of Pine Bluff, AK.; and friend Willie Brown, his ping pong partner. Ivory Cornelius Goodrum Jr. was preceded in death by his daughter, Tammie Goodrum; parents, Ivory Cornelius Goodrum Sr. and Gloria Dolores Palmer Goodrum; grandparents; brother, Willie Goodrum; brother-in-law, Charlie Short; and best friend, Raymond Reeves.
