Isaac Boxley

BOXLEY, Mr. Isaac - Age 78, passed away Monday, November 15, 2009 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 10:30AM Monday, November 23, 2009 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM, Rev. William E. Whitaker, Sr., officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30AM Monday. Mr. Boxley will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 10AM-6PM Sunday. Mr. Isaac Boxley, Jr. was born October 29, 1931 in Brinkley, Arkansas, the son of the late Isaac Boxley Sr. and Florence Boxley. Mr. Boxley was the sixth child born into a family of eight. He accepted Christ at an early age at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Brinkley, AR. Growing up, he played the guitar in a gospel group with his brothers. Later he sang with the Southern Travelers, also out of Brinkley, AR. Isaac moved to Flint in 1969, where he later met and married Gertrude Taylor. He was a loving, kind and gentle person. Isaac loved to play the guitar and his favorite thing to do was tease his sister, Marie; they acted like two little kids when teasing each other. That’s what kept them young and she’s 85 years old now. He loved his sister and his family. Isaac never met a stranger. He was a fun-loving person who loved life and lived it to the fullest. Isaac will be missed by all who knew him. He leaves to cherish his memory: sister, Marie Robertson of St. Louis, MO; 22 nieces, 22 nephews, including special nephew, Jessie Boxley, Jr.; many great nieces and great nephews; sister-in-law, Loistein Boxley of Flint; special friends, Rose Glover, Patricia Lewis and Floyd Lloyd. Mr. Boxley was preceded in death by: wife, Gertrude Boxley; parents, Isaac and Florence Boxley; 4 brothers, Jessie, James, David and Louis Boxley; 2 sisters, Lizzy Logan and Lucy Boxley; and 3 sisters in law, Bertha, Mary and Shirley Boxley. The family would like to express special thanks to Rev. William E. Whitaker, Sr. and Faith Baptist Church, Holly, MI; Bishop John Allen and Carpenter Rd. Apostolic Church, Min. Anthony Floyd and New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church families.
