Mrs. Irma Mae Urquhart

URQUHART, Mrs. Irma - Age 93, passed away Wednesday May 8, 2019 at Fostrian Manor. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday June 14, 2019 at Vernon Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 5802 Dupont St., with memorial service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Doug Banks, Host Pastor. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd., Burton, MI. Friends and family will assemble at the Church 10:00 AM Friday. Irma Mae Urquhart was born November 10, 1925 in Eldorado, Arkansas, the daughter of Henry Thomas and Mary (Hurts) Taylor. Irma traveled to Flint, Michigan with her mom and dad when she was about 16 years old. It didn’t take her long to find her way around Flint. She enrolled in Flint Public Schools. Irma left school to work at A.C. Spark Plug, a division of General Motors Corporation where she retired. She received her GED sometime later. Irma met and married, Jay Urquhart. After their divorce, she met the love of her life, Leroy Turner. She lived a happy and single life, traveling, doing church work and eating out. Irma enjoyed being around family and supporting them in every way. She was a faithful member of Vernon Chapel A.M.E. Church and served as Treasurer of the Cook Missionary Society. Irma also was the head of the Kitchen Committee at one time and an avid Sunday School Member. She was also a member of the St. John’s Club, Birthday Club, Only Child’s Club, Sewing & Quilting Club and the A.C. Club. Irma Mae Urquhart leaves to cherish her memory: loving and devoted cousins, Fay Robinson, Queen French, Otis (Vertie) Taylor, Matt Taylor, Jim Taylor, Artie Dixon, all of Flint, Dezaree Newman of Indiana, Betty Harris, Doris (LeRoy) O’Neal, Adel (Billy) Herbert, Barbara Warner, Darnell Holoman, all of California, Bertha Johnson of Pontiac, MI and Jerri Jacks-Hopson of North Carolina; step-son, LeRoy Turner of Flint; god-son, Keyshion Robinson of Raleigh, NC; a host of other cousins, relatives and friends including special friends, Sweetie Dickers, Carol Scott, Johnnie Sharp, Katie Harper, Addie George and Joyce Keys. Irma was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Thomas and Mary (Hurts) Taylor. Irma was 93 years old and the Matriarch of our family. She will remain in our hearts forever. We love you “Boo”.
