Mrs. Irene Morgan

MORGAN, Mrs. Irene - Age 83, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Genesys Health Park., Grand Blanc, MI. Family hour 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle, 930 E. Myrtle Ave, with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Tuesday. Mrs. Morgan will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 2:00 PM -8:00 PM Monday. Mrs. Irene Morgan was born January 12, 1933 in Luxora, Arkansas, the daughter of Eddie Payne and Rosie Lee Parker. After leaving Luxora, AR she moved to Detroit, MI and then later to Flint, Michigan. Where she resided until the Lord took her home. Irene attended the Institute of Financial Education in Troy, MI and furthered her education at Mott Community College. She was employed by the Flint Board of Education as a Teacher Assistant with Flint Public Schools. Irene was a faithful member of Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle where she was the Chairperson for the Floral Ministry Club. She was also on the Missionary Society and of course singing with the Senior Voices Choir. Irene enjoyed floral arranging, crafts, singing in the choir and we must not forget cooking and traveling. She was simply a fun loving person with a great sense of humor and she loved her children. Mrs. Irene Morgan leaves to cherish her memory: son, Eric Morgan; grandchildren, Christopher (Chylawn) Jackson, Sr., Keyshua Thompson, Ali (Sherrithia) Haire, Charlayne Oliphant, Ciara Morgan, Anthony K. Morgan, Jr., Kevin L. Morgan, Eric R. Morgan II and Erica L. Morgan; sisters, Betty Rodgers, and Bernice Woods; nieces, Sonya Eggleston, Yvette (Kenny) Mickens, Patricia (Terry) Harris, Venita Brownley, Natalie Bynog, and Pamela (Bernard) Sanders; nephew, Karl Rodgers; a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her daughter, Vickie L. Ross; son, Anthony K. Morgan; parents, Eddie Payne and Rosie Lee Parker; former husbands, Frank Ray and Nelson Morgan. The family would like to express special thanks to Genesys Health Park 3rd Floor doctors and nurses, Ms. Pamela Howlett, Ms. Lois Lee, Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle family, and the Caniff Street family.
