Mrs. Irene Curb

CURB, Mrs. Irene - Age 90, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Caremont of Flint. Family hour 10:30 AM Tuesday, December 22, 2020 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 AM Tuesday. Mrs. Curb will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Monday. Mrs. Irene Curb was born April 11, 1930 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, the daughter of Dick and Lorene Miller. Irene married James Curb in 1967. She was baptized at an early age. Anyone that knew her knew she was a Christian. Irene was a member of First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church. She loved going to the vegetable farm picking greens, corn and strawberries. Irene was employed at Hurley Medical Center for 20 years and she loved her job. She loved helping sick people get better. Irene also loved to barbecue and was well known for her pound cakes. She was Hurley’s Nurse of the Month, January 1985. She retired in 1987 after losing her husband in a car accident one block from home. They were married for 30 years. Irene was a member of several church organizations and the Mission Board. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, shopping and cooking. Mrs. Irene Curb leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Wannetta Turner-Cabine of Flint; 2 god-daughters, Tammie Carroll of Oak Park, MI and Wanda Hoey of Flint; 3 grandchildren, Palmer Duncan of Auburn Hills, MI, Danyell Cabine of Flint and Kai Cabine of Atlanta, GA; 2 great-grandchildren, Giana Wilson and DaMarion Dye, both of Flint; 5 nieces, Monwella Hanks of Phoenix, AZ, Veronica (Marcus) Daniel, Nina (Frank) Lawrence, Eileen Mills, Gwendolyn (Demetrius) Thompson; 3 nephews, Thomas (Angelina) Pettigrew , all of Lima, OH, Anthony Pettigrew of Irving, TX and Bruce Pettigrew of Lima, OH; 10 cousins, 7 girls and 3 boys, all of East. St. Louis, IL; sister-in-law, Johnnie McNeil of Los Angeles, CA; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Willa Bone (lifelong friend) of Southfield, MI, Ann McCloud of Annandale, VA (formerly of Flint) and Arvella Williams of Glen Allen, VA (formerly of Flint). Mrs. Curb was preceded in death by her husband, James Curb; daughter, Vivian Irene Duncan; twin sons, Eddie Lee Turner and Freddie Lee Turner; parents, Dick and Lorene Miller; brother, Willie Miller Jr.; sisters, Pauline Pettigrew and Ernestine Miller; mother-in-law, Nettie Curb-Douglass; son-in-law, Palmer Duncan; brother-in-law, Thomas Pettigrew.
