Mr. Ira Lee Lewis

LEWIS, Mr. Ira Lee - age 82, passed away Friday, November 13, 2015 at his residence. Family hour 10 a.m. Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Vernon Chapel A.M.E. Church, 5802 Dupont St., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. Dr. Byron C. Moore Host Pastor Rev. Roosevelt Brown, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Thursday. Mr. Lewis will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Wednesday. Mr. Ira Lee Lewis was born July 11, 1933 in Plantersville, Arkansas, the son of Thaddeus A. and Verna B. Lewis. He was employed at General Motors Corporation for over 40 years. Ira was a faithful and dedicated member of Vernon Chapel AME Church where he served in the Senior and Men’s Choir. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in the church. Ira was President of the Dailey-Dolan East Block Club. Mr. Ira Lee Lewis leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Agnes Vivian Lewis; 2 children, August Isom and Joseph (Lisa) Lewis; grandchildren, Donna, Kevin and David Isom, Deondria (Carmen) Wallace, Denieka Wicker, Robert Wicker and Jazmin Simmons, Joseph Lewis II, Julian Lewis, Kirk Kelso, Tamarr Nunley and Tatiana Thymes; great-grandchildren, Keosha Johnson, Iyannah Isom-Brown, Horace Isom, Kevin Isom II, Kaden Isom, Summer Lewis, Joseph Lewis III, Kia Kelso, Kayla Kelso and Liam Lewis; sister, Marva McDaniel; brother, Welton Lewis; a host of nieces and nephews; granddaughter-in-law, Moeneak Love; grandson-in-law, Jovhan Armstrong; 3 sisters-in-law, Ruthie Mae Vincent, Carolyn Lewis and Sandra Lewis; brother-in-law, Otis McDaniel; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Jackie Deloney. Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his daughter, Angelia Y. Lewis; parents, Thaddeus A. and Verna B. Lewis; 3 sisters, Margaret “Mickey”, LaDora and Lettie; 6 brothers, GW, QT, Bobby, Ulyess, Lamar and Raphus. The family would like to express special thanks to Rev. Brown and the Men’s Bible Study, Jackie Deloney and Dr. Muhammad Alamansour.
