McDANIEL, Mrs. Imogene - Age 92, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2024 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10: 00 AM Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Bristol Road Church of Christ, 1315 West Bristol Road, with funeral service commencing at 11:00 PM Minister Rigel J. Dawson, officiating. Interment, Sunset Hills Cemetery, G4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. McDaniel will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Friday, October 25, 2024 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Imogene (Willis) McDaniel was birthed into this life on Thursday, April 7, 1932 in McCaskill, Arkansas and transitioned from this life on Sunday, October 6, 2024 after a lengthy stay at McLaren Hospital Flint, Michigan. She was the fourth of seven children born to the union of the late Mr. John Allen Willis and Mrs. Pearl (Richardson) Willis. Imogene aka “Tuke” was educated in the Blevins (Hempstead County), Arkansas school district before retiring one semester into her senior year to help support her loving family. She was thirteen years of age at the untimely death of her beloved mother, therefore leaving her father and older siblings to carry on the affairs of the household. Long story short, God’s grace was sufficient and the children all grew, and moved on to live productive lives. On June 30, 1951, in Prescott, Arkansas, she married the love of her life, JC McDaniel from “across the river,” Antoine, Arkansas. Two years later (1953) she relocated with her newly-wed spouse to Flint, Michigan accompanied with their first-born, Betty. Also born into this union were Calvin, Ronnie, and Terrea. Imogene was taught the gospel the summer of 1951, by Bro. Robert Simmons an Evangelist from Florida. That teaching culminated in her being baptized and becoming a member of the church of Christ. For many years she was a devoted member of the North Central Church of Christ congregation, and in later years was a faithful member of the Bristol Road Church congregation until the time of her passing. Imogene was primarily a homemaker following her relocation to Flint, although on occasion would take on part-time house cleaning work for extra money during the holidays; as the children grew older. She would later apply for and was hired into General Motors (V8 Engine Plant) in 1969, and retired after 25 years in 1994. Imogene enjoyed her time working at GM. As she made many lifelong friends there, in addition it allowed her the financial sustainability she always sought. Aside from work she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening and traveling. Moreover, she enjoyed cooking, baking and having “Taco Tuesday’s” any day of the week. She loved fishing, watching wrestling (WWE), live and on TV, bowling, attending various church related events, e.g. Crusade for Christ, National Lectureships, Regional and local congregational Songfests, etc; all across the US of America. Our mom was a certified “Road Runner” Imogene McDaniel leaves to cherish her memory: loving husband of seventy-three years, JC McDaniel of Flint; three affectionate, supportive and protective children, 2 daughters Betty J. (Robert) Sanders of Conway, AR and Terrea M. McDaniel; son, Calvin W. McDaniel, both of Flint; daughter-in-law, Brenda McDaniel of Dover, NJ; 2 loving siblings, Mildred Niles of Flint and William A. Willis of Blevins, AR; sisters-in-law, Calie and Julia McDaniel, both of Flint; in addition she leaves 9 adoring grandchildren who honored their “Granny” with much individual and collective admiration, Kermit Fielder of Flint, Chandra D (Darrin) Orr of Indianapolis, IN, Nicole McDaniel of Katy, TX, Cavatis (Cheryl) Norton of Flint, Maralina Allen of Belleville, MI, Calvin W.R. Norton of Flint, Catrice A. McDaniel of Houston, TX, Jay C (Stacey) McDaniel of Davison, MI and De’Quan McDaniel of Dover, NJ; 13 sweet loving great-grandchildren, Micheal Johnson, Kirby Johnson, India J. Orr, Paul Edward II, DeAndre Johnson, Andrew Stephenson, Bryce D. Orr, Jalaya McDaniel, Elle Orr, Jaylin McDaniel, Brayden and Kinsley and Xaiden L. McDaniel; ten God sent great-great-grandchildren, Jazmin, Jayla, Jacarry, Makayla, Kirby Jr, Kyree, Kalaya, Israel J. and Jeremiah Z. and Kayson J. Robinson; along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and not withstanding special friends and sisters in Christ, Victoria Poplar and Adell Powell of Flint; former co-workers and devoted luncheon friends (Chevrolet V8 Engine Plant) and beloved niece and sister-in-Christ, Martha Rhymes of Texarkana, Texas. Imogene was preceded in death by her much beloved son, Ronnie Lowell McDaniel; grandson, Corey T. Sanders; parents, Mr. John Allen Willis and Mrs. Pearl (Richardson) Willis; sisters, Ms. Johnnie Pearl Willis, Ms. Esther James, Ms. Wanda Osborne and Mrs. Callie Strong; brother, Mr. Chauncey Willis; parents-in-law, Mr. Turn McDaniel and Mrs. Anna McDaniel; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and brother and sisters-in-law.
