Mr. Howard Sanders Jr.

SANDERS, Mr. Howard Jr. - Age 75, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc, MI. Funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM at Kingdom of Heaven Ministries, 2430 Dutcher St., Apostle Lonnie Brown, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Sanders will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 - 6:00 PM Friday. Mr. Howard Sanders Jr. was born July 22, 1945 in Jackson, Mississippi, the son of Howard and Mary Ella Sanders. Howard was a resident of Flint, Michigan. He was saved at a early age at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, MS. Howard was a faithful member of Kingdom of Heaven Ministries for 26 years, where he loved serving as Pastor Brown’s Armour Bearer. He actively attended Men of Valor and Excellence Men’s Ministry. Howard received his Skilled Trades Certificate from Mott College. He worked 39 years in Skilled Trades with GM Metal Fab Division in Pontiac, MI. Howard loved watching action movies and sports with his son, David. His family was a joy to him. He also loved spending holidays and special occasions with his family, traveling with his wife, Cheryl and eating good food. Mr. Howard Sanders Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: lovely wife, Cheryl Sanders; 2 daughters, Valerie Sanders Lewis, both of Flint and Malissa (Melvin) Johnson of Brandon, MS; 4 sons, Troy (Abby) Sanders of Colorado Springs, CO, Howard Sanders III of Mesa, AZ, Spencer Redmond of Justice, IL and Howard (Sala) Sanders IV of Houston, TX; 2 step-children, Crystia (David) Patterson and Michael Carter, all of Flint; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Beatrice Brown of Libreville, MS and Peggy (Billie) Rhodes of Jackson, MS; brother, Bobby (Leola) Sanders of Flint; special grandson, Howard Sanders; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Morris Massey (Maxine) and Leroy (Mary) McKinney. Mr. Sanders was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Mary Ella Sanders; sisters, Alberta Thompson and Mary Pearl Powell; brother-in-law, Lucien Brown; granddaughter, Sala Nneka Willa Kissah Sanders; step-son, Darrell Carter; and his little fur baby, Fluffy Mae Sanders. The family would like to express special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Ascension Genesys Hospital ICU Unit.
