Mr. Hollis Ramon Rawls

RAWLS, Mr. Hollis Ramon – Age 46, passed away Friday, September 26, 2014 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with memorial service at 2 p.m. Bishop Bernadel L. Jefferson officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Rawls will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12 noon-8 p.m. Wednesday. Hollis received a call on September 26, 2014; God needed him to come home. Mr. Hollis Ramon (Man) Rawls was born on July 14, 1968 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Amanda and the late J.C. Rawls. He attended Flint Northern High School where he was known as Hollis Cru by friends and classmates. He excelled in football and wrestling, and even competed in the wrestling state finals. Hollis enjoyed spending time with his family, playing chess, and eating (always a two plate man). Mr. Hollis Ramon Rawls leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Nioki Lee Rawls of Flint; 2 sons, Calvin Boekhozen of Lansing, MI and Qwynton Rawls of Flint; mother, Amanda (Napoleon) Eason; step-mother, Erlinda Rawls; 3 sisters, Sheila Tobias of Wisconsin, Sonya Rawls and Kawatha Tobias, both of Flint; 2 brothers, Craig Rawls of Flint and Danell English of Georgia; 5 nieces, La’Keshia Rawls, Tazhaniq Tobias-Tidwell, Amanda Tobias, Anika Banks and LaShawn Rawls; 3 nephews, DaQuandon Rawls, JaQuez Tidwell and Nigel Tobias; 3 great nephews; 4 aunts, Bertha Rawls, Mazie Murphy, Catherine Martin and Vickey Rawls; 2 uncles, Thomas (Karen) Rawls and Frank Pippins; god-brother, Tracy Travis; a host of other relatives and friends (I can only name a few, for he had many), Merv Fleming, Toryman Everett, Will Palmer; and special friend, Kaylah Spearman. Mr. Hollis Ramon Rawls was preceded in death by: his father, J.C. Rawls; grandparents, Hollis and Mary Tobias and John and Caldon Rawls; aunt, Ella Pippins. The family would like to express special thanks to Zito Construction for taking Hollis under your wing, because he loved working for you. You taught him so much, resulting in him being awarded Career Alliance Employee of the Year on November 21, 2006 and Outstanding Michigan Works Alumni on February 6, 2007. Thank you to the paramedics and Hurley Emergency Room workers for all you did to try to save him, however, God knew it was time for him to come home and rest. Thanks to all who came by, said a prayer, and spent time with the family.
