Mrs. Hildria Yolanda Richmond

RICHMOND, Mrs. Hildria Y. - Age 76, passed away Friday, September 27, 2024, at Ashford Courts, Westland, MI. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, October 5, 2024, at New Zion Baptist Church, 1601 Chippewa St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Jacob Hawkins Host Pastor, Rev. David Odom, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Richmond will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Friday. Hildria Yolanda (Hoyle) Richmond was born on July 7th, 1948, in Jackson, Tennessee to the late Rev. James L. Hoyle II and Laura (Pirtle) Hoyle. At 8 years of age her family moved to Flint, Michigan at which time she joined New Zion Missionary Baptist Church and was an active member for more than 50 years. She graduated from Northwestern High School and furthered her education at Eastern Michigan University (EMU) in Ypsilanti, Michigan where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree and later a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling. While attending EMU, she became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. on January 6th,1968. Hildria returned to the Flint area and began teaching in the Beecher Community School District where she taught for 30 years. She met the love of her life Andrew Perry Richmond, in 1970. They married in 1972 and were married for 30 years before he passed away. Two sons were born to this union Andrew (Kellye) Richmond and Deondre (Nakeia) Richmond. Hildria served as a member of New Zion Baptist Church No. 7 Sunday School Class, was a Teacher in the Mission Ministry, and a Choir Member. She later was appointed as the Minister of Music in 1973 by the late Dr. W.G. Terry and served in this capacity for 42 years. She was grateful for having Christian parents. She was Awarded with “Director of the Year” for the Wolverine State Baptist Convention Woman’s Auxiliary United Sisterhood 48th Annual Award and Scholarship luncheon. In addition to music and singing, she loved spending time visiting the sick and shut-ins at Nursing homes in the Flint and Flushing area. She also enjoyed Bible Study Groups, reading, sewing, knitting, encouraging others through sending cards and prayers. She loved traveling throughout different parts of the world which included Isreal and Paris. Hildria later joined Union Grove Baptist Church, Romulus Michigan after moving to Ypsilanti to be closer to her grandsons in 2017. She attended Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) and continued to sing in the choir at Union Grove Baptist Church. One of her Favorite Scriptures is Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, so that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Mrs. Hildria Richmond leaves to cherish her memory: 2 sons, Andrew (kellye) Richmond of Romulus, MI and Deondre (Nakeia) Richmond of Waterford, MI; 2 step-children, Anthony Williams of Fint and Perria Richmond of Carson, CA; grandchildren, Trinity Cunningham of Houston, TX, Imani Cunningham of New Orleans, LA, Andrew Pierce, Karsten Richmond, both of Romulus, MI, Jameel’ Shareef of Carson, CA and Ashley Williams of Flint; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, James (Linda) Hoyle III of Bakersfield, CA; niece, Lauren Hoyle of Los Angeles, CA; nephew, James Hoyle IV of Los Angeles, CA; 2 cousins, Clayton (Nevell) Pirtle of Clarkston, MI and Jerome Pirtle Jr. of Capital Heights, MD; sister-in-law, Rosalind Richmond of Detroit, MI; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Shirley Britt, god-son, Terrence Dye, Robbie Ransom, Daria Gravess, Vicky Hobby, Tina Moreland and Barbara Burks. Mrs. Richmond was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Perry Richmond; parents, Rev. James L. Hoyle II & Laura (Pirtle) Hoyle; uncle & aunt, Jerome and Luenell Pirtle.
