Mrs. Hildegard Marie Black

BLACK, Mrs. Hildegard Marie - Age 93, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at her residence. Family hour 1:00 pm Monday, January 23, 2017 at Valley Church of Christ, 4201 Lippincott Blvd., Burton, MI with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM, Minister Jeff Switzer officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd., Burton MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 1:00 PM Monday. Mrs. Black will lie in state in the sanctuary of Valley Church of Christ and may be viewed from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM Monday. Mrs. Hildegard Marie Black, age 93 went home to be with the Lord January 17, 2017. She was born February 26, 1923 in Giessen, West Germany to Anton and Emilie Fleischmann. Hildegard married Calvin Black in 1953, moving to America in 1954, settling in Flint, Michigan where she has lived until the time of her death. Mrs. Black was employed by the General Motors Corporation for 30 years, retiring in 1982. She was an avid Square Dancer in the 1960’s, and travelled with her group to numerous exhibitions in Michigan and Canada. Mrs. Black was a talented Seamstress, and made many clothes, including her own square dancing dresses. She loved knitting, crocheting and making crafts of all kinds. Hilde will always be remembered as a kind, selfless person, who always looked for ways to bring happiness to others. In her later years, she would give tootsie roll pops to all who visited her-whether you wanted them or not. Mrs. Black served many years at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, teaching Sunday School and singing in the Adult Choir. At age 90, she became a member of the Valley Church of Christ, until the Lord received her home. She was loved by many, and will be missed by all. Mrs. Hildegard Marie Black leaves to cherish her memory: children, Alfhild (Jim) Winder of Bethesda, MD, Pamela (Gerald) Simpson of Albion, MI., and Lamar (Jodie) Black of Port Huron, MI; nephew, Dirk (Monika) Meyer of Germany; 6 grandchildren, Kim Olson, Sylvan (John) Cown, all of Athens, GA, Correy (Porsha) Black of Mt. Morris, MI, Camille Simpson of Battle Creek, MI, Samantha Simpson of South Bend, IN, and Caleb Simpson of Albion, MI; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Joyce Black, Dorothy Black, Rosemary Turner, Lee Esther Black, and Ruby Crawford; brothers-in-law, Robert (Connie) Black and Michael (Mavis) Blacque; all of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends including special friend, Osie Johnson; caregivers, Susan Reinhardt, Terry Pitts, Kendra Norris, Michele Norris and A’Lisa Harvey. Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Black; grandson Lamar P. Black, Jr; parents, Anton and Emilie Fleischmann; sister, Lieselotte Meyer; brother, Helmut Fleischmann.
