ELLISON, Mr. Herman L. - Age 63, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Willowbrook Manor. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Ebenezer Ministries, 2130 S. Center Rd., Burton, MI. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Bishop Urundi Knox Host Pastor, Pastor James Fields officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Ellison will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday, with family present 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Mr. Herman Lee Ellison was born March 19, 1950 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the son of Flordie B. Ellison Sr. and Charlean Ellison. Herman moved to Flint at an early age, where he attended Flint schools, later graduating from Flint Northern High School, “Class of 1969.” He began working for General Motors Flint V-8 Engine Plant for 15 years and was a member of UAW Local 659. Herman found Christ at an early and was an active member of Christ Deliverance Center, where he served as an Usher and Greeter. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, dominoes, watching movies and was known to dress to impress. Mr. Herman Lee Ellison leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Tonya (Prentiss) Norris of Flint; stepson, Dilan McClain of Mt. Morris, MI; grandchildren, A.J. “Roc” White, Tia “Sunshine” White, both of Flint; step grandchildren, Gabrielle McClain of Flint, Dilan and Dilante’ McClain, both of Atlanta, GA; 2 sisters, Vivian Ellison of Flint and Carolyn (Dean) Russell of Flushing, MI; brothers, Flordie B. (Maxine) Ellison, Jr., of Flint; 5 nieces, Teneka, Twila, Janine and Aesha Ellison and Nateeba Massey; 4 nephews, Orlandis Ellison, Dean Russell, Demond Russell and Derrell Russell; 4 aunts, Ossie Fields, Barbra Wills, both of Flint, Verlean Barker of Detroit, MI and Verda Nichols of Saginaw, MI; uncle, Joe (Betty) Wills of Romulus, MI; a host of other relatives and friends including best friends, Lewis “LT” Barber, special friend, Ramona Burt, special nieces, Nateeba Massey and Aesha Ellison. Mr. Ellison was preceded in death by his parents, Flordie B. Ellison and Charlean Ellison, Sr.; brother, Carl Ellison; former wife, Charlotte Ellison; and special uncles, Frank Wills, Sr. and Herman Ellison. The family would like to express special thanks to Willowbrook Nursing Home, Hurley Medical Center 9th floor staff, Gentive Hospice, Bishop Urundi Knox and the Ebenezer Ministries Church family, the Holbrook family, the St. John neighborhood family and the Christ Deliverance Center Church.
