McGUIRE, Mr. Herbert – Age 74, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2010 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11 a.m., Pastor Zack Smith officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Mr. McGuire will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 1-8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Herbert McGuire was born August 28, 1935 in Whiteville, Tennessee, the son of Gloss and Annie McGuire. Herbert moved to Flint in 1955, where he was employed and retired from Chevrolet Metal Fabricating and was a member of Local #659. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing and spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Herbert McGuire leaves to cherish his memory: 5 daughters, Veruncia Bolden, Sheila, Michelle and Camille McGuire, all of Flint and Lovely Cook; 2 sons, Roylee McGuire of Whiteville, TN and Larry Bolden of Flint; 5 stepchildren, Charlie, Pamela, Shirley, James and Brenda Rodgers, all of Flint; 18 grandchildren, Maurice, Jamal, DeJuan, Lamar, Tyeisha, Larry Jr., Onaka, Keia, Porsche, Ajayi, Shalonda, Keiara, Deonna, Karrow, Tiara, Kermisha and Tim, all of Flint and LaTora Vonshay of Whiteville, TN; 12 great grandchildren; mother of his children, Dorothy McGuire of Flint; 3 sisters, Bessie Joyner of Flint, Georgia Allen of Whiteville, TN and Gracie Woods of St. Louis, MO; a host of nieces and nephews including special nieces, Earlene McGuire and Doretha Shaw and special nephews, Eugene Baylock and Brian McGuire; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Mr. Robert Keels, Ms. Peggy and Mr. Red, all of Flint. Mr. Herbert McGuire was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela McGuire; parents, Gloss and Annie McGuire; 2 brothers; 4 sisters; and 4 brothers-in-law including special brother-in-law, Richard Joyner; and special friend, Ernestine Rodgers. The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical Center and staff.
