CLEMENTS, Mr. Herbert - Age 68, passed away Friday, December 8, 2017 at Henry Ford Hospital-Detroit, MI. Family hour 1:30 PM Saturday, December 16, 2017 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM Pastor Timothy Hicks officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM Saturday. Mr. Clements will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday. Mr. Herbert Eugene Clements “Gene” was born October 23, 1949 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Herbert A. Hart and Louise M. Purvis. He was a resident of Flint and attended Flint Northwestern High School. “Gene” enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the young age of 17. In 1967, “Gene” served in the Vietnam War in 1968, 3 months later he was off to Vietnam again, where he served our country again until 1973. He was employed at Buick Motor Company, a division of General Motors for 23 years. “Gene” was outgoing, funny and loved to make people laugh with those incredible quotes that he would say. He loved to fish with family and friends, play cards and dance. “Gene” was a well known man, loved by all. But most of all, he loved his family. Mr. Herbert Eugene Clements “Gene” leaves to cherish his memory: 2 sons, Jermaine Cannon of Tahlequah, OK and Christopher Hill of Ripley, MS; step-mother, Nina M. Hart; 5 sisters, Jackie (Tony) Purvis of Kalamazoo, MI, Toni Purvis of Flint, Sheila (Terry) Hart-Aubrey of White Lake, MI, Katheron Brown of Flint and Sheryl Woods of Miami, FL; 2 brothers, Bobby Johnson of Lansing, MI and James (Denise) Hart of Houston, TX; 7 nieces, Ceia Mays, Shawanda (Leon) Minor, Lashai (Jeremy) Diggs, Megan Hernandez, Sheila R. Hart, Ayany Luckett and Laronna (Anthony) Barnett; 6 nephews, LaTravis Hart, James Hart, Monte Clements, Ondron Clements, Dione Clements and Daniel Clements; 8 great-nieces, Kendall Longton, Lexi Hart, Camesha Sims, Destiny Clements, Asia Knapp, Dior Clements, Zi’Ahnni Clements and Lariah Snell; 6 great-nephews, Jaxon Pacitio, Zander Hart, Monte Clements Jr., Travon Jones, Demarion McCone and Zerimiah Clements; 13 aunts, Mary Bell, Marjorie Clements, both of Flint, Odell Brent, Janet Green, Margaret (Marshall) Robinson, all of California, Gwendolyn Purvis of Houston, TX, Louise McKay of Lebanon, KY, Joyce Johnson, Emma Johnson, both of Flint, Josalind Moore, Kathy Townsend, both of Forest, MS and Carol Jones of Memphis, TN; uncle, John E. Hart of Lebanon, KY; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends including special cousins, Robert Clements, Sharon (Willie) Harris, Marva Bell, special niece, Asia Knapp, Arthur Williams, Duane Knapp, Rosie Glaspie, Percy and Melinda Washington, Michelle Longton and Brian Palicio. Mr. Clements was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert A. Hart and Louise M. Purvis; step-father, Merland Purvis; grandparents, Willie and Birdie Hart, Charles and Mattie Clements; sisters, Linda Clements, Jane Hart and Shirley Luckett; brother, Minister Herbert M. Hart; and nephew, Yafeu Hart. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Timothy Hicks and the Christian Love Faith Center family, and Henry Ford Health System Hospice.
