Mr. Henry Lewis

LEWIS, Mr. Henry - Age 84, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018 at his residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Monday, November 26, 2018 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, G-5443 N. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Samuel Berry III, officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:00 AM Monday. Mr. Lewis will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10:00 AM-6:00 PM Sunday. Mr. Henry Lewis was born November 26, 1933 in Vicksburg, Mississippi, the son of Tom and Thelma (Clark) Lewis. He was educated in the Vicksburg School System. Henry moved to Flint, Michigan as a young man seeking employment. He was hired at Chevrolet Manufacturing (in the hole as they called it), a division of General Motors Corporation where he became an Inspector. Henry retired after 36 years of service. He joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. J.C. Curry. Henry continued to serve under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Alfred L. Harris Sr. He served on the Senior Usher Board, the Security Ministry and in any capacity needed. Mr. Lewis remained a faithful supporter of his church despite failing health. He loved the Lord and his Macedonia Church family. Mr. Lewis was an avid Detroit Lions Football Fan, he enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling. Mr. Henry Lewis leaves to cherish his precious memory: children, Patricia Andrews, Melvin Lewis, David Lewis, Lisa (Cedric) Ragland, Oliver (Edith) Lewis, Minister Leonard (Donna) Bridges and Angienette Watts; sisters, Jerry Smith of Destrehan, LA and Geneva Lewis of Vicksburg, MS; special granddaughter, Lentoya Bridges; great-granddaughter, Nyeja Turner; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives including, the White and Sylvester families of Grand Rapids, MI; also left to cherish his memory his Cedarwood family, who doted on him and he them for the past 10 years; a host of friends including special friends, Bro. Jessie Davis, Bro. Lynn Carradine, Bro. Cleave Garrett, Mrs. Martha Sykes, all of Flint and Mrs. Julia Mayhorn of Detroit, MI. Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by: his loving wife, Minister Deloris Lewis; his 1st wife, Mary A. Lewis; grandsons, Demetrius and Dominique Lewis and James Andrews; great-grandson, DeVincio Lewis; parents, Thelma (Walker B. Dennard) and Tom Lewis; grandparents, Tom (Lear) Clark and Rev. George (Kitty) Lewis; sons Jerome Hudson and Tom Lewis; son-in-law, Benny Watts; 3 aunts; 6 uncles; several sisters and brothers-in-law.
