Henry Crockett

CROCKETT, Mr. Henry "Hank", Jr. - ge 86, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Avalon Hospice. Family hour 10:30AM Friday, March 20, 2009 at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, 3020 Dupont St., with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Dr. J.S. Hopkins officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Friday. Mr. Crockett will lie in state in Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 2PM-8PM Thursday. Mr. Henry “Hank” Crockett, Jr. was born April 14, 1924 in Kansas City, KS, the son of Henry and Ida Crockett. He later relocated to Flint, Michigan where he resided until his passing. Henry accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and was baptized at a small church in Kansas. He was employed by General Motors, retiring in 1972. “Hank” enjoyed listening to Jazz. He also loved to telling stories and laughing with family and friends. Mr. Henry Crockett, Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: loving wife, Floria (Ford) Crockett; daughter, Cindy Crockett both of Flint; son, Jeffrey Woodard of Farmington Hills, MI; stepdaughters, Denise (Harold) White of LaVergne, TN and Laurie Brown of Nashville, TN; stepsons, David (Betty) Henry of Indianapolis, IN, Danny (Patricia) Brown of Parris, CA and Edwin (Jackie) Brown of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, DaShonda Crockett of Lexington, KY, Henry D. (Pam) Crockett, IV, of Stockbridge, GA, Rochelle Jones, Warren Crockett, Austin Woodard all of Detroit, MI, Deland Crockett of Flint, Stephen (Carla) Fuqua of Great Lakes, IL and Winston Fuqua of Flint; brother, Linzey Crockett; sisters-in-law, Gernal and Victoria Crockett all of Kansas City, KS, Evang. Arlivia (Henry) White, Roy Anne Henry and Myrtle (Spearman) Henry all of Flint; brothers-in-law, Louis (Beverly) Ford, Bobby (Beth) Henry all of Flint and Robert (Gloria) Henry of Houston, TX; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Jessie Nelson, Mr. & Mrs. Dentson, Hattie Mae Buggs, Elder Susie Martin and Renay Cooper. Mr. Crockett was preceded in death by his son; grandson; parents; and 4 siblings. The family would like to give special thanks to the excellent staff at Avalon Hospice for their extraordinary compassionate care, by going above and beyond the call of duty, the Mason Street residents, Pastor J.S. Hopkins and the St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church Family, Pastor Calvin Martin and the Restoration Outreach Center family.
