Henry Biggs

BIGGS, Mr. Henry C. - Age 76, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2007 at his residence. Family hour 10AM Friday, December 21, 2007 at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, G-4805 N. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Pastor Henry L. Fuller, Jr., officiating. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Friday. Mr. Biggs will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Thursday. Mr. Henry Clay Biggs, Sr. was born August 18, 1931 in Lumberton, Mississippi, the son of Marclite Biggs and Robert Pledge. Mr. Biggs graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Memphis, Tennessee. In 1953 he came to Michigan, where he was employed at Fisher Body as a Master Craftsman, retiring in 1976. He was also a member of UAW Local #581. Mr. Biggs gave his life to Christ at an early age attending Mt. Calvary M.B.C. until his health failed. His hobbies included fishing, baseball, listening to music, traveling with his family, riding motorcycles, and driving his van and boat. Mr. Biggs leaves to cherish his memories: loving wife of 58 years, Inella White Biggs; children, Veronica Ann Kelley, Gwendolyn (Clarence) Biggs-Thompson, Henry Clay Biggs, Jr, all of Flint, Anthony (Lisa) Biggs of Detroit, Herbert (Ann) Biggs, Beverly (Terence) Biggs-Leavy and Lavonzella (Victor) Jones all of Flint, MI; 33 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; 2 cousins, Alberta Gill and George Gant; brother-in-law, Elmo (Kate) White of Flint; 4 sisters-in-law, Mrs. Annie Pearl Austin of Memphis, TN, Leberta White of Flint, MI, Modine White of Detroit, MI and Mrs. Rogerlina White of Columbus, OH; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Mr. and Mrs. "Potner" Dennis and Dorothy Smith, Mrs. Jonnie Metcalfe, Mrs. Mary Cook and the Philadelephia St. Family. Mr. Henry Biggs, Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, Marclite Biggs and Robert Pledge; sister, Willie Louise Hollis; son-in-law, John Toby Kelley, Sr. and grandson, Antonio Storey. The family would like to express special thanks to Ms. Vernell Bell, Mrs. Gerth, Mrs. Amy, Mrs. Edith, Heartlland Hospice staff and Mt. Calvary M.B.C. family.
