PHIFER, Mr. Hemory Sr. - Age 63, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 1:30 PM Saturday, January 27, 2018 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM Pastor Kenneth L. Stewart officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM. Mr. Phifer will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday. Mr. Hemory “Bay-Bay” Phifer Sr. was born May 15, 1954 in Flint, MI. The son of Alberta and June Phifer. He spent most of his life in Flint, affectionately known as “Bay-Bay”, he was often attributed with being a smooth talker and being blessed with the “gift of gab”. When Bay-Bay wasn’t engaging you in conversation, he was beating you in a game of Dominoes or Spades, while indulging to the sounds of B.B. King. A lover of blues, southern cooking and fishing, Bay-Bay was quite a man. After the loss of the love of his life, Deborah, Bay-Bay devoted his time to building his relationship with God and his family. When he wasn’t spending time with his sisters and brothers, he was with his sons. Recently, he relocated to Georgia to be with his oldest daughter and grandbaby. Even more recently, he was bestowed with the honor of becoming a great-grandfather. Above all, Bay-Bay valued his time spent with family and friends. If you were lucky enough to be in his presence, while he was out on the town, you could be sure of at least one of three things; Bay-Bay knew someone, they knew Bay-Bay, or he was trying to get to know them. It is amazing to hear the stories of how such a person could have had an impact on so many lives. May his life be celebrated through the memories of all the beautiful moments we were blessed to spend with him. Mr. Hemory Phifer Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: daughters, Valerie Cheeks (Shedrant) Wilkes of Franklin, GA, Pachiona Henson of Flint; sons, Hemory Phifer, Jr. of Detroit, MI, Jeremiah Phifer of Flint, Hemory Antonio Phifer of Illinois and Ah’Kiron’tae Robinson of Flint; grandchildren, Jalissa T. Colton of Franklin, GA; great-grandchildren, Ja’Mira T. Connally of Franklin, GA; great-niece, Itoya Phifer of Flint; sisters, Annie Willingham of Flint, Sandra McCloud of Roanoke, AL; brothers, Glen Phifer of Flint, Willie “Sunny” Phifer of Alabama, Robert T. Phifer and Robert James Phifer, both of Flint; and a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Bay-Bay Phifer was preceded in death by wife, Deborah D. Phifer; son, Jevory “Fatty” Phifer; father, June Phifer; sister, Patricia Walker and niece, Mayoya Phifer.
