Mrs. Helen Harden

HARDEN, Mrs. Helen - Age 89, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Rosehaven Manor. Family hour 10;30 a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with memorial service commencing at 11 a.m. Minister Janard Lakes officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Mrs. Harden will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Helen Harden was born on May 28, 1926 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Fred and Daisy McLaurin. She was a Resident of Flint, MI and attended Flint Public Schools. Helen accepted Christ at an early age at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and was a long-time member of Mt. Carmel Church. She was employed by Bill Ferrell Uniforms, Clara Barton Nursing Home for several years and was a licensed beautician. Miss Helen loved sewing, cooking, baking, re-upholstering furniture, crocheting and whatever she could think of she could do it. She loved hosting family dinners and gatherings, enjoyed playing games and going to the casino. Mrs. Helen Harden leaves to cherish her memory: 3 daughters, Geraldine Winfield of Grand Blanc, MI, Serrita L. and Leatrice K. Harden; 2 sons, Byron (Shawn) and Mainard (Avis) Harden, all of Flint; 19 grandchildren, Rodney, Lorenzo, Timothy, Toure, Kissa, Chako, Chasity, Jamal, Tasha, Bear, Cashmir, Teaqua, Keayra, Shawn, Genell, Jeffery, London; 39 great-grandchildren; great-great-grand-daughter, Anna; 2 sisters, Laura Hobbidy and Rosa Lee (Alvin) Kendall, both of Flint; brother, Jackie McLauren of Flint; 2 sisters-in-law, Freeda (Henry) Bizzle of Flint and Earlene (LC) Murray of Meridian, MS; 3 brothers-in-law, Tommy (Jewell), Franklin and Leon Harden, all of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, great-nieces, great-nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends including adopted daughter, Joann McCloud; special niece, Barbara Lakes; longtime friend, Daisy Pace; and her casino friends. Mrs. Harden was preceded in death by her husband, George R. Harden, Sr.; daughter, Charlotte Varner-Langston; son, George R. Harden, Jr.; 6 grandchildren; parents, Fred and Daisy McLaurin; 2 sisters, Annabell Lakes and Maxine McLaurin; 2 brothers, Fred, Jr. and Gerald McLaurin; 2 nephews; mother-in-law; father-in-law; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved family pet, “Baby Girl.” The family would like to express special thanks to McLaren Hospice, McLaren Hospital CCU, Bishop Urundi Knox and the Ebenezer Ministries family and the Lawrence E.
