Mrs. Helen Gray

GRAY, Mrs. Helen - Age 89, passed away Friday, May 3, 2024, at Maplewood Manor, Clio, MI. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday May 18, 2024, at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 4805 N. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Rev. Dr. Henry Fuller Jr., officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Gray will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Friday, with family present from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM. Mrs. Helen Gray was born July 15, 1934 in Wiggins, Mississippi, the daughter of Elmer and Goldlean Beatrice Taylor. Helen married John Gray in 1956 and moved to Flint, Michigan. Helen was employed at Fisher Body I and Buick City, divisions of General Motors Corporation where she retired after 30 years of service. Helen was a faithful member of the Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, faithfully serving on the Nurses Guild Ministry until her illness. She loved home gardening, fishing, shopping, interior decorating and keeping her yard beautiful with floral arrangements with her daughter, Kelika. Helen loved visiting with friends and family gatherings. Mrs. Helen Gray leaves to cherish sweet memories: 3 daughters, Annie McGee, Shirley Anderson and Kelika Gray, all of Flint; grandchildren, Robert Maurice McGee, Shon (Kim) Burney, Cedric (Tina) Simpkins and Ebony McGee; great-grandchildren, Antonio Williams, Lasha Burney, Cedricka Pita, Samora Simpkins, Kenicia Burney, Natori Burney, Jakhari Brown, Cedric B. Simpkins Jr., Cieara Simpkins, Elena Simpkins and Autum Simpkins; great-great-grandchildren, Kimberly Sumpter Williams, Laiyah Benavides, Jaysen Moore and Keion Williams III; sisters-in-law, Leanna Taylor Nelson of Wiggins, MS, Janie Marshall of Flint and Alice Dawson of Austin, TX; nephews, Bobby, Ray and Butch; nieces, Avanell, Pumpkin, Glenda, Rena, Brenda and Sandy; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Brenda Sales, Vanessa Jones and Dorothy Miller. Mrs. Gray was preceded in death by her husband, John Gray; grandsons, Anthony Burney and Leon Anderson; great-great-granddaughter, Kimiya Sumpter; and parents, Elmer and Goldlean Beatrice Taylor; brother, L.C. Taylor; sisters, Ella Mae Gilner and Lola Mae McBride; son-in-law, Robert L. McGee.
