Hazel Stinson

STINSON, Mr. Hazel Leon - Age 79, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 27, 2009 at his residence. Family hour 10:30AM Friday, July 3, 2009 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM, Min. David Taylor officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 10:30AM Friday. Mr. Stinson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 2PM-8PM Thursday. Mr. Hazel “Leon” Stinson was born October 22, 1929 in Huntersville, North Carolina, the son of Elmore and Beulah (Connors) Stinson. Hazel was a resident of Flint for 61 years. He left Huntersville in he late 1940’s and moved to Flint, Michigan. Hazel married Lelia Mae Williams June 15, 1951 and to this union 2 sons were born, Donald Leon Stinson (deceased) and Ronald Stinson. He served in the United States Army, returned to Flint and worked for General Motors for 34 years. Hazel was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church, where he drove the church bus for many years. Hazel was a neighbors, neighbor, plowing, gardening, repairing cars and whatever he could do to help you. He was “happy go lucky”, always talking stuff and making you laugh. Hazel never met a stranger. He just loved to talk, that was his gift. Mr. Hazel “Leon” Stinson leaves to cherish his memory: wife of 58 years, Lelia Mae Stinson; son, Ronald (Maria) Stinson of The Colony, Texas; sister, Mrs. Sylvia S. Tucker of Huntersville, NC; foster sister, Mrs. Mildred (James) Henderson of Charlotte, NC; brother, James S. Stinson; foster brother, Ralph James, both of Huntersville, NC; aunt, Mildred Connor Morey of Detroit, MI; sisters-in-law, Lucy Mae Stinson, Delores Blount, Alice Williams, all of Flint and Ynester Williams of Americus, GA; brothers-in-law, Eugene (Rosetta) Williams of Flint, MI, Raymond, Clarence and George Williams, all of Smithville, GA; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins of Flint, Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Smithville and Albany; and a host of dear friends throughout the City of Flint. Mr. Stinson was preceded in death by his son, Donald Leon Stinson; and parents.
