McGLOTHIN, Mrs. Hattie – Age 68, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Genesys Health Park. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2013 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Jean Payne officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Mrs. McGlothin will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. Monday. Ms. Hattie McGlothin “Mom B” was born April 1, 1945 in Money, Mississippi, the daughter of Tom Carr and Bridie B. Carr. She attended Wilki Jr. High School in Mississippi. “Mom B” was baptized at an early age. She moved to Flint, Michigan in 1966 and attended Foss Avenue Missionary Baptist Church and Hickory Grove Missionary Baptist Church; she later in life moved her membership to Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist Church. She served on the Mother’s and Usher Boards. “Mom B” loved church and playing cards. Ms. Hattie McGlothin “Mom B” leaves to cherish her memory: 2 grandchildren, Gregory Ingram, Jr. and Unique Ingram; 2 sisters, Clara (James) Darby and Georgia Overstreet, all of Flint; 2 brothers, Leon Billups of San Diego, CA and Issac (Ella Mae) Billups of St. Louis, MO; aunt, Gertrude Young of Flint; god-daughter, Veronica Flowers, both of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews including special nephew, Thomas Carr, relatives and friends. Ms. McGlothin was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Lee McGlothin; son, Gregory Ingram; parents, Tom Carr and Bridie B. Carr; 3 brothers, Sammie Carr, Robert Palmers and Robert Billups. The family would like to express special thanks to Genesys Health Park, Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist Church family and her close friend, Mary Utsey. I’m Free Don’t grieve for me for now I’m free. I’m following the path God has chosen for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call; I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way; I’ve found my peace at the end of day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joys. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss; Oh yes, these things, I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. Look for the sunshine of tomorrow. My life’s been full, I’ve savored much; Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief; Don’t lengthen your pain with undue grief. Lift up your heart and peace to thee. God wanted me now-He set me free
