LeFLORE, Mr. Haskel "Ray" - Age 75, passed away Monday, May 27, 2013 at his residence. LeFLORE, Mother Ernestine - Age 74, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Genesys Health Park. Familly hour 10 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2013 at Harris Memorial C.O.G.I.C., 4317 Lippincott Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Eric C. Bogan officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Monday. Mr. & Mrs. LeFlore will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Mother Ernestine LeFlore was born November 12, 1938 in Moscow, Tennessee, the daughter of Neely and Amelia (Wright) Peeples. She moved to Flint to be closer to her sisters at the age of 19 and worked as a childcare giver until she was hired into the Paramount Potato Chip Company until her retirement in 1992. She was married to Haskel LeFlore for 47 years they added three children to their union. Lolita Antoinette, Michael Ray, and Sherry Lynette. At the tender age of 28, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Pentecostal Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C., where she served for many years on various auxiliaries. In 2003, she joined Harris Memorial C.O.G.I.C. (under then Bishop Walter E.Bogan and later Pastor Eric Bogan) where she served on various committees and auxiliaries within the Women’s Department. Mother LeFlore's hobbies included happily fervently serving the Lord, gardening, and spending time with her family. Mother’s most favorite pastimes included intercessory prayer, being an Evangelist of Christ spreading His Word, and traveling to various church functions. She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Sherry (Charles) Kennedy; grandchildren, Jarrell D. LeFlore, Jasmine M. LeFlore and Lauryn E. Kennedy; great-grandson, Jarrell Leflore Jr., all of Flint; 2 brothers, Carstell “Jack” (Dorothy) Peeples of Flint and Henry Peoples of Memphis, TN; a host of dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including extended family the Townsends. Mother LeFlore was preceded in death by her husband, Haskel LeFlore; 2 children, Michael R. and Lolita A. LeFlore; parents, Neely and Amelia (Wright) Peoples; sisters, Dothula Evans, Susie Fenner, Iola Peoples, Essie Peoples; and brother, Willie Peoples. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Eric Bogan and the Harris Memorial C.O.G.I.C. Church family and the Pentecostal Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C. Church family. Mr. Haskel “Ray” LeFlore was born April 10, 1938 in Peno, Oklahoma, the son of William and Evia (Smyers) LeFlore. After graduating from Flint Northern High School in 1956, the following year he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served four years before being Honorably Discharged. In 1966, Haskel married Ernestine Peeples and to their union were added Lolita Antoinette, Michael Ray, and Sherry Lynette Leflore. After the Navy, Haskel was employed with General Motors Service Parts Operation as a skilled trade’s worker and served as a Union Representative, UAW Local 659. Haskel had a strong belief in workers’ rights, he retired in 1992. Ray was a huge sports enthusiast, some of his hobbies included baseball, football, boxing, and swimming. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren and socializing with his friends. Mr. Haskel "Ray" LeFlore leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Sherry (Charles) Kennedy; grandchildren, Jarrell D. LeFlore, Jasmine M. LeFlore, Lauryn E. Kennedy; great grandson, Jarrell LeFlore Jr., all of Flint; 3 sisters, Shirley Mosley of Charlotte, N.C., Elnora LeFlore and Geniva Fuller; 3 brothers, Archie, Bobby (Mildred) and Hershel (Laura) LeFlore; great aunt, Mother Delilah Duell, all of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including dear friend, Bobby Williams and extended family the Townsends. Mr. LeFlore was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine LeFlore; 2 children, Michael R. and Lolita A. LeFlore; parents, William and Evia LeFlore; 6 siblings, Roy, Eva, Eugene, Norman, Mary, and James. The family would like to express special thanks to the Harris Memorial C.O.G.I.C.
