Mr. Haskel LeFlore

LeFLORE, Mr. Haskel - Age 75, passed away Monday, May 27, 2013 at his residence. Familly hour 10 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2013 at Harris Memorial C.O.G.I.C., 4317 Lippincott Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Eric C. Bogan officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Monday. Mr. LeFlore will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Haskel “Ray” LeFlore was born April 10, 1938 in Peno, Oklahoma, the son of William and Evia (Smyers) LeFlore. After graduating from Flint Northern High School in 1956, his following year he enlisted with the U.S. Navy where he served for four years before being Honorably Discharged. In 1966, Haskel married Ernestine Peeples and to their union were added Lolita Antoinette, Michael Ray, and Sherry Lynette Leflore. After the Navy, Haskel was employed with General Motors as a skilled trade’s worker and served as a Union Representative, with strong belief in workers’ rights, until his retirement in 1992. As a huge sports enthusiast, some of his hobbies included baseball, football, boxing, and swimming. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren and socializing with his friends. Mr. Haskel Ray LeFlore leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Sherry (Charles) Kennedy; grandchildren, Jarrell D. LeFlore, Jasmine M. LeFlore, Lauryn E. Kennedy; great grandson, Jarrell LeFlore Jr., all of Flint; 3 sisters, Shirley Mosley of Charlotte, N.C., Elnora LeFlore and Geniva Fuller; 3 brothers, Archie LeFlore, Bobby (Mildred) LeFlore and Hershel (Laura) LeFlore, all of Flint; great aunt, Mother Delilah Duell of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including dear friend, Bobby Williams and extended family the Townsends. Mr. LeFlore was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine LeFlore; 2 children, Michael R. and Lolita A. LeFlore; parents, William and Evia LeFlore; 6 siblings, Roy, Eva, Eugene, Norman, Mary, and James. The family would like to express special thanks to the Harris Memorial C.O.G.I.C. Church family and the Pentecostal Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C. Church family.
