POPLAR, Mr. Harold D. - Age 57, passed away Friday, August 26, 2011 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 1:30 p.m., Friday, September 2, 2011 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd, with funeral service commencing immediately at 2 p.m. Pastor Benny Stribling officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Friday. Mr. Poplar will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12-8 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Harold Delano “Lane” Poplar was born August 22, 1954 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Henry Poplar and Callie Mae (Carr) Poplar. Harold was baptized in his early childhood at New Zion Baptist Church under the pastorate of Doctor W.G. Terry. Delano was known by many as “Lane.” “Lane” attended Flint Public Schools, then started employment with Chevrolet Truck and Bus Assembly, retiring with 32 years of service and was a member of UAW Local 598. He enjoyed spending time with his family, whom he had a very close relationship with, friends, and dog, Max. “Lane” loved watching the daily news and sport events. He made his transition peacefully with his family at his bedside. “Lane” will truly be missed by all of his loved ones. He leaves to cherish is precious memories and stay in God’s care: wife, Debra Poplar; daughter, Sholanda (Andrew) Kimbrough of Baltimore, MD; sons, Craig (Renae) Buyck, Delano Poplar, Eric (Tiffany) Poplar and Kevin Poplar of North Carolina; stepson, Larry Brown, Jr. of Flint; grandchildren, Nikita Barfield, Maurice and Porcia Collins of Baltimore, MD, Eric Poplar, Jr., Rashad Griffin and Delano Poplar, Jr.; step-grandchildren, Simone Brown of Lawrenceville, GA and Larry Brown III; parents, Henry (Victoria) Poplar and Callie (Rudy Hill) Poplar; sister, Twania “NaNa” (Tony Smith) Poplar; brother, Tyrone “Toddy” (Laurice) Poplar; half-sister, Brenda (Birdell) McCall of Kansas City, MO; step sister, Brigitte Thomas; aunts, Victoria (Lawrence) Brooks, Hattie Mae (Lee) Watson, Patty Dean Poplar and special aunt, Verbaline (Horace) Jackson; uncles, James (Jackie) Poplar and specia uncle, Fred (Donna) Poplar; great uncles, Cleo Carr and McKinley Andrews; great-aunt, Marie Wilson; brother-in-law, Henry Swift; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Brice, Marjorie Louis, Linda Sanders and Sheila Davis of Louisiana; a host of other relatives, friends, neighbors and special friends, Ralph (Vicki) Henry, Clyde (Celeste) Battle, Ollie Fryer, Bill Burns, George “Skyking” King, Ronald Moore, Robert Dado, Deborah Johnson of Louisiana, Joe “BlueMax” King, Larry “Moose” Fierson, Rod Green, Ralph “Dino” Hardy and Hudie Langston.
