HOLLEY, Mr. Harley - Age 88, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Genesys Health Park. Family hour 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2011 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2 p.m. Pastor Robert Allen and Apostle Clarence Lewis officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Friday. Mr. Harley will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Harley Holley was born October 7, 1922, the eldest son of Joseph and Mable Holley. Harley was a resident of Flint and attended Flint Community Schools. He worked at AC Spark Plug early in his career journey. Harley was among Flint’s early Black Entrepreneurs being an Owner/Operator/Mechanic of Holley’s Gulf Gas and Service Station on the corner of St. John and Stewart. He was also Owner/Operator/Mechanic and Broker of his own Trucking Business “Holley Enterprise Inc.” Harley worked with many companies hauling for various industries; minerals, steel, trees, and produce across the United States. He was a family oriented, strong exemplary man with great work values. Harley inspired, motivated, encouraged and mentored many young men over the years. Mr. Harley Holley leaves to cherish: wife, Margaret Holley; 6 children, Duane (Chenita) Holley, Dyanna (James) Mitchell, Delbert Holley, Deniece Cox, Darlene (Herman) Rivers and Delisha Holley; stepchildren, Brenda, James, Bobby and Barbara, all of Flint; grandchildren, Clarice (Steven) Thompson, Harley Holley, Johnnie (Jamila) and Marcus Morris, Delbert-Jeffrey, Jocelyn and Jacinda Holley, Nicholus and Marsae Mitchell, Jason Holley, Markus and Tenicha Cox, Keyvon Holley, Jessie-Khristina (Wayne) Rivers, DeJon and Leishei-Amanda Holley; 20 great-grandchildren; siblings, Katherine Barnes, Berniece Barnes, Doris Morris, Othello Buckner, Laverne Holley, Leroy (Barbara) Holley, Shirley (Arthur) Dickerson and Joy Anderson; sister-in-law, JoAnn (Glenn) Gilliam of Phoenix, AZ; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. Mr. Holley was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Holley; parents, Joseph and Mable Holley; siblings, Foster Holley and Gladys Thetford.
