Ms. Gwendolyn Robinson

ROBINSON, Ms. Gwendolyn - Age 71 passed Monday, April 27, 2020 at Hurley Medical Center. Private viewing will be held. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd., Wednesday, May 6, 2020. Ms. Gwendolyn (Chattmon) Robinson was born January 1, 1949 in Flint Michigan, the daughter of Ms. Zernie Bacon and Mr. Rueben Cato. She attended Flint Community Schools including Dort Elementary, Emerson Jr. High and was a graduate of Flint Northern High School, “Class of 1967.” Gwendolyn also attended Mott Community College. She mainly worked in retail most of her life, working at The Vogue, Jean Nicole’s and Talbots. Gwen enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, traveling with her childhood friends The Egyptianettes, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She had many nicknames but the one she cherished most was the one her grandchildren called her “GG”. At family gatherings she was one of the biggest trash talkers at the card table and was quick to do the “four corners” when her song came on. Gwen always thought of the needs of others, she remembered everyone’s birthday and always made a point to send a card. Ms. Gwendolyn Robinson leaves to cherish her memory: son, Jamal Robinson; daughter, Tonya Robinson; mother, Zernie Bacon; 3 grandchildren, Alexis (Dennise) Causey, Jalil Robinson and Brandon Robinson, all of Flint; great-granddaughter, Raelyn Causey; sister, Pamela Althiemer of Flint; special sister, Lorraine Carnes; brother, John (Diana) Bacon of Tucson, AZ; special brother, Roy Chattmon; 4 nieces, Ashley (Jujuan) Cooley of Grand Blanc, MI, Ciara Bacon, Brittany Rooks and Naomi Bacon, all of Phoenix AZ; 4 nephews, Omar (Normethal) Brown-El of Sterling Heights, MI, Joshua Bacon, Nate Renfro and Johnathon Bacon, all of Phoenix, AZ; aunts, Frances Brandon of Mt. Morris MI, Geraldine Chatmon and Deborah Harris; uncles, Monroe Adams, all of Flint and John (Yolonda) Chatmon of Flushing, MI; sisters-in-law, Willie Anna Flynn of Flint and Carmel Fee of Sun City, AZ; a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends including special friends, Nancine Jackson, Donita Hayes, and The Egyptianettes; Bernice (Jake) Palmer-Kendall, Gwendolyn “Jean” Gray-Durrett, Rose Mary Singleton-Adkison, Cynthia Morgan-Jarett, Gestine Jones-Brown, Saundra Page “Boo Boo”, Marcella Pendergrass (Marcia), Carolyn Dudley, Ernestine Miller-Gary (Tina), Mary Wardlow-Wash (In Heaven: Joan Hicks-Stapleton, Delphine Higgins-Roberts and Sophrania Wilson); special cousins, Jethene Ross, Claudette Brandon, Betty Jean Harris and Nola Sanders; families, Brandon, Robinson, Jarett and Ross. Ms. Robinson was preceded in death by her father, Rueben Cato; grandmother, Nola Brandon-El.
