MARKS, Ms. Gwendolyn - Age 50, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2015 at her residence. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2015 at Victorious Word Church, G-3560 Beecher Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Rodney Murphy, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Memorial Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Monday. Ms. Marks will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Sunday. Evangelist Gwendolyn Jo Marks was born June 19, 1965 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Thelma Marie (Stevenson) Murphy and Joseph Wiley. She was a resident of Flint, Michigan. Evangelist Marks was a member of Victorious Word Church and a former member of Prayer Garden Church Of God In Christ. She was a graduate of Harrisburg High School, “Class of 1982.” Evangelist Marks was employed as a Waitress Host at Red Lobster for many years. She was a very thoughtful and loving person. Evangelist Marks was also a Missionary, that enjoyed fellowshipping with her church family, reading the Bible and was gifted at teaching scriptures making them easy to understand. She loved talking on the phone, laughing and playing video games. Missionary Gwen truly loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Evangelist Gwendolyn Jo Marks leaves to cherish her memory: son, Dannon Marks of Flint; mother, Thelma M. (Stevenson) Murphy of Altoona, PA; 5 sisters, Valerie Jean Marks, Patricia (Terry) Marks-Colbert, all of Harrisburg, PA, Charmaine (Timothy) Mathis of Flint, Andrea Marie “Pennii” (Timothy) Bittner of Altoona, PA and Rona Madeline (Tony) Vickers of Flint; brother, William Howard “Billy” Marks of Harrisburg, PA; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. Evangelist Marks was preceded in death by her loving and devoted adoptive parents, Aunt Ethel Holmes and Uncle Ivin Caraway; grandmother, Dorothy “Dolly” Stevenson; grandfather, Roy Adams Stevenson; brother, Joseph Leon “Manny” Marks; uncles, Roy, Leroy and Paul Stevenson. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Rodney Murphy and the Victorious Word Church family, Supt. Jerry L. Givens and the Prayer Garden Church Of God In Christ family.
