Mr. Grover Mathious

MATHIOUS, Mr. Grover - Age 62, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Facility Care Center, Grand Blanc, MI. Family hour 11:00 AM Friday, September 16, 2022 at Royal Priesthood Ministries, 2518 Delaware Ave., with funeral services commencing at 12:00 PM. Pastor Harold Britton, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:00 AM Friday. Mr. Mathious will lie in state in the chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home 906 E. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday. Mr. Grover Mathious was born July 11, 1960 in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of Richard Sr. and Vernetta Mathious. On Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at 3:51AM, Grover was called home. He was employed at Flint Truck & Bus, a division of General Motors Corporation in the cafeteria. Grover cooked and prepared food, he enjoyed cooking. He was a very dedicated worker, everyone that knew him enjoyed being around him. Grover was a very outgoing person that enjoyed being around his family and friends. He also enjoyed listening to the Blues, Gospel Music, watching old movies and action movies. Grover was a very respectful guy, he loved having cookouts with family and friends. He would attend church at times with his wife. Grover had 2 nephews that would come and visit him often, which everyone love them. When they would come to visit, Grover would be so happy to see them, he enjoyed their company. He also enjoyed his grandkids, his youngest ones would facetime him and make him laugh. Grover will be greatly missed by everyone. Mr. Grover Mathious leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Sherry Mathious; 2 daughters, LaKeshia (Ernest) Thomas and Shanika Mathious; 2 sons, Mario (Tiffany) Powell and Demetree Mathious; grandchildren, Miesha Hausley (Raheem) Ervin, Niyona Thompson, X’zavier Thomas, Anayah (Powell) Thompson, Ernest Thomas IV, Harmony Mathious, Amarionna Thompson and Arnmony Mathious; 4 sisters, Mary (Richard) Crosby of Texas, Geraldine (Ernest) Green, Brenda Primus, all of Saginaw, MI and Della Simmons of Detroit, MI; 4 nieces; 7 nephews; aunt, Johnnie Wilkerson; 2 brothers-in-law, Richard Crosby of Texas and Johnnie Bradshaw of Milwaukee, WI; a host of uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Sandy and Kat, Steve, Larry, Tim, Lonnie, all of Saginaw, Keith, Vincent, Reggie, Carl, Kenneth, James, Tonya, Leon, Elston, Jessie, and Sue, all of Flint. Mr. Mathious was preceded in death by his father, Richard Mathious Sr.; mother, Vernetta Mathious; father and mother-in-law, Sammie and Ann Powell; grandparents, Haskell and Clara Mathious, Servie and Mildred McNicholas; brother, Richard A. Mathious Jr.; sisters, Brenda Primus and Mildred Bradshaw; 3 nephews; a host of cousins and friends. The family would like to express special thanks to McLaren-Flint, Ascension Genesys Hospital 3rd Floor ICU, Living Joy Assisted Living, Serene Gardens of Grand Blanc, MI, Ashley, Pace doctors and staff, Pasto Harold Britton, Co-Pastor Sherri Britton and Royal Priesthood Ministries family.
