Mr. Gregory Leeper

LEEPER, Mr. Gregory - Age 54, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at his residence. Family hour 12:30 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Victorious Word Church, G-3560 Beecher Rd, with funeral service commencing at 1 p.m. Pastor Rodney Murphy officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Association Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Mr. Leeper will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Gregory Alvin Leeper was born March 14, 1959 in Flint, Michigan the son of Willie and Uearlean Leeper He was a member of New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church. He was a member of the “Class of 78” Northwestern High School and also was a member of UAW Local #651. “Big Al” worked for General Motors for over 25 years and retired in 2005. Alvin was fun loving and caring, but a no nonsense man that valued the simple and small things in life. He truly loved his family, especially his daughters who he cherished and loved. Many of the young men in the neighborhood referred to him as “Uncle Alvin” and there was a special love and bond that he shared with them all through their lives, and for many of them he was the only father figure that they had known and a safe haven when life wasn’t perhaps kind to them. They all simply loved their “Uncle Alvin”. He loved Cadillac’s, sports and spending time with his family. He loved collecting firearms and had a great love for soul food. Mr. Gregory Alvin Leeper leaves to cherish his memory: 2 daughters, Chinereye Settle of Grand Blanc, MI and Chamika Settle of Detroit, MI; grandchildren, Deja “VuVu” McLaurin, Fendi “Fat-Fat” Garty and Farrell Garth, all of Grand Blanc, MI and Gabrielle “Pretty” Good of Detroit, MI; mother, Uearlean Leeper of Flint; 2 sisters, Betty Leeper of Canton, MI and Myra Leeper; 2 brothers, Henry (Jackie) Leeper and Daryl Leeper, all of Flint; 11 Nieces and 18 nephews; 2 aunts, Verbie Bogard of Omaha,NE and Elsie (Sonny) Thomas of Los Angeles, CA; uncle, Norman “Snow” Smith; a host of cousins other relatives and friends including special friends, the entire Pulaski Ave. family. Mr. Leeper was preceded in death by his father, Willie Leeper; brother, Billy Leeper; niece, Patrina Leeper; nephews, Jerrell Evans, Calvin Leeper and Darius “Quion” Butler.
