LANG, Ms. Gloria - Age 54, on April 9, 2013, surrounded by love, Gloria transitioned from labor to rest. Family hour 10 a.m. Monday, April 15 ,2013 at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3502 Lapeer Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Marvin A. Jennings, Sr., officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Monday. Ms. Lang will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. On October 3, 1958, a beautiful baby girl, Gloria Ann Lang was born in Water Valley, Mississippi to Roland and Queenie Caruthers. Shortly following her birth, the family relocated to Flint, Michigan where she matriculated through the Flint Community schools, graduating in 1976 from Flint Northern High School. In July of 1984, she gave birth to her pride, joy and twin Danielle Nicole Johnson. A dedicated employee of Hurley Medical Center, Gloria spent much of her free time cooking, gardening, traveling, bowling and shopping (particularly for shoes). A believer and lover of Christ, she was a shining example of God’s love in the earth. Known for her vivacious personality, bright smile and elegant style, Gloria was treasured by many and will truly be missed. She leaves to treasure fond memories, daughter and son, Danielle and James Johnson II of Eastpointe, MI, 2 brothers: Joe (Fannie) of Flint, MI and Larry of California, PA, 1 uncle: Sam (Faye) Caruthers of Detroit, MI, 2 aunts: Mary Kathryn Caruthers of Oxford, MS and Jeanette (Charlie) Rogers of Water Valley, MS, special friend, Janiro Ford, special friends that she adopted as sisters, Gwendolyn (Henry) Gaines, Tammi (Donta) Hampton, Chenita (Duane) Holley and Sherry Ross, all of Flint, MI. God Daughters, Tatiana Jones, Tamisha Denson, Chanel and Colby Brown, “other daughters” Joslyn (Isaiah) Pettway and Candice Morgan and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including her Hurley Lunch Crew, the old Rankin Street Kids, Aaron (Tammy) Wooten Sr. and many more. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Queenie Caruthers, 1 brother, Roland Jr. and her “fairy godmother”, Denise Moss. The family wishes to express special thanks to Walter and Alluna Lang, Dr. Aram Minasian, Dr. Michael McCann, the Hurley Medical Center 5 East nursing staff, Pastor Marvin A.
