Mrs. Gloria Jean Grayer

GRAYER, Mrs. Gloria Jean - Age 63, passed away Monday, January 29, 2018 at her residence. Family hour 10:30 AM Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Church of the Harvest, 2202 W. Dartmouth St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Bishop Neal Roberson, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Saturday. Mrs. Grayer will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday. Mother Gloria Jean Grayer was born April 5, 1954 in Artesia, Mississippi, the daughter of Willie Burnett and Catherine Williams. She gave her life to Christ at an early age at St. Matthew Baptist Church in Starkville, MS. Gloria moved to Flint, Michigan in 1971 and became a member of Church of the Harvest International (formally known as Heavenly Host Full Gospel Baptist Church). She was a faithful member and held numerous positions with the church. Mother Grayer loved helping people. She received her education through Moore High School. Gloria was employed at Flint Truck & Bus, a division of General Motors and was a member of UAW Local #598. She was kind, compassionate and loved to cook. Her hobbies included: cooking, exercising and shopping. Mother Gloria Jean Grayer leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Sonya Grayer (Jimmy) of Flint; 2 sons, Calvin (Marie) Grayer and Akeen (LaSasha) Grayer, all of Indianapolis, IN; 7 grandchildren, Akeen Grayer Jr., Jalen Grayer, Mareeka Grayer, Dequantrum Grayer, Shalonda Grayer, Sharmaine Shruggs and Sa’Na Wilson; 2 great-grandchildren, Iyonna Grayer and Messiah Wansley; 3 sisters, Martha (T.J.) Lucious of Artesia, MS, Christine Williams of Cincinnati, OH and LaShonda Neal of Starkville, MS; 5 brothers, Julius (Orlinda) Williams of Memphis, TN, Eddie Williams, Harry (Kathy) Williams, all of Flint, Rev. Willie Williams of Nashville, TN and Fredick Moody of Columbus, MS; a host of cousins including special cousin, Nancy Weatherspoon; god-daughter, Linda Allen; a host of nieces including special niece, Vanessa; a host of nephews including special nephew, Steve; 3 sisters-in-law, Valie Snell, Hattie Young and Mary Lawson; 3 brothers-in-law, Otis Snell, Alvin Watson, all of Flint and Jessie Bush of Starkville, MS; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Betty Deloach, Mattie Mistress and Jackie Barfield; a special thanks to father of her children, Odie Grayer for his love and support. Mother Grayer was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Burnett and Catherine Williams; and brother, Willie Burnett Jr. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Wilfredo Rivera, MD, caregiver, Brother Eddie Williams, DaVita Hallwood Dialysis Center, Bishop Neal Roberson and the Church of the Harvest International family.
