Mrs. Glenda Elaine LeFlore

LeFLORE, Mrs. Glenda Elaine - Age 81, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Genesee Gardens. Family hour 1:30 PM Tuesday, January 3, 2023, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM Tuesday. Mrs. LeFlore will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed during the family hour only. Mrs. Glenda Elaine LeFlore made her earthly transition peacefully on December 22, 2022, after a brief illness while at her resident located at Flint’s Genesee Gardens in the presence of her loving and devoted caregivers, Rosalyn and Robert LeFlore. Mrs. LeFlore was a devoted member of Friendship Baptist Church located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Glenda was born June 8, 1941 in Kannapolis, North Carolina, the youngest daughter of John and Hattie McCain. She grew up in Flint, Michigan and graduated from Flint Central High School.. Subsequently, attended and earning an Associate Degree from Flint Junior College, a Bachelor of Art’s from University of Michigan and Master Degree in Special Education from Eastern Michigan University. Glenda had a son, Derek Raymond LeFlore who regrettably passed away in 2018. Glenda was employed as a Devoted Special Education Teacher for the Flint Board of Education for 37 years. After her retirement, she moved to Charlotte, NC residing there for the past 30 years before recently returning to Flint in 2022. Glenda’s civic activities including: Teacher’s Union Representative, a Founder for the Flint Links Club, member of the Flint Business and Professional Women’s Club and Proud Sponsor of Special Education Activities. Her hobbies included socializing with friends, property management, going to the casino’s, traveling to Las Vegas and the Caribbean, dressing to impress and listening to music. Mrs. Glenda Elaine LeFlore leaves to cherish her memory: 2 sisters, Abigail Reaves and Clare Mitchell; nephews, John (Tujunana) Reaves of Flint and John Mitchell of Charlotte, NC; grand nephew, Nicholas Reaves of Atlanta, GA; former husband, Archie LeFlore of Flint; special cousins, Gwendolyn Rhines, Warner McCain, Wanda Smyers; lifelong friends, Rosalyn LeFlore, Sandra Epps, Joann Jones, Carlotta Russel, Pat Haney, caregivers, Dallisa (Jackie) Mason and Robert LeFlore Jr. Mrs. LeFlore was preceded in death by her son, Derek LeFlore; parents, John and Hattie McCain.
