Ms. Glenda Fay Horton

HORTON, Ms. Glenda Fay - Age 54, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013 at her residence. Family hour 1:30 p.m Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Canaan Baptist Church, 910 E. Gillespie St., with funeral service commencing at 2 p.m. Pastor Charles Roots officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Ms. Horton will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12 noon-8 p.m. Tuesday. Ms. Glenda Fay Horton was born May 18, 1958 in Jackson, Tennessee, the daughter of the late James and Hattie Horton. Glenda was a member of Canaan Baptist Church. She was employed by Freedom Works. Glenda attended Dort and Emerson Schools and graduated from Northern High School. Her hobbies were listening to music, especially, Smokey Robinson and playing cards. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and socializing with her family and friends. Ms. Glenda Fay Horton leaves to cherish her memory: 3 daughters, LaTasha (Toya) McQueen of Lansing, MI,, Kamea (LaMario) McQueen and Kemoshi (Leslie) McQueen; grandchildren, James McQueen, Serenity White, Sierra Solomon, Kirise Atkins Jr., Darry Atkins, Airreanna McQueen and Brenity McQueen, all of Flint; 2 sisters, Gwendolyn Wheat of Grand Blanc, MI and Luevenia Horton of Flint; 2 brothers, Derrick (Bahezza) Horton of Flushing, MI and Lamar Horton of Flint; a host of nieces and nephews; 2 aunts, Delorise Horton of Flint and Fannie Pearson of Jackson, TN; uncles, Joe Horton and Cleveland Dudley, both of Flint; mother and father-in-law, K.C. (Mary) McQueen of Flint; 2 sisters-in-law, Eldora Day of Flint and Diane McQueen of Detroit, MI; 2 brothers-in-law, Ronald McQueen and Calvin McQueen, both of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Terry (Patricia) Walker, Willie Wheat and Moses Johnson. Ms. Horton was preceded in death by her former husband, Darry McQueen; parents, James Daniel (Hattie) Horton; brothers, Bruce, James, Prentice and Jerome Horton; a host of uncles and aunts; brothers-in-law, William Wheat, Gary and Ricky McQueen. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Charles E. Roots and the Canaan Baptist Church family, Stella Newton, Kenyatta Hunter and Ebony Roman.
