MORGAN, Mrs. Gladys - Age 92, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Henry Ford Hospital-Genesys. Family hour 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 4, 2025 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Family and friends will assemble at the Funeral Home 10:00 AM Tuesday. Mrs. Morgan will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Monday, March 3, 2025. Our beautiful Matriarch, the incomparable Mrs. Gladys Morgan was born September 7, 1932 in Clameta, Mississippi, the daughter of Willie Johnson and Jessie Mae Wilson. She was joined in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, Mr. Robert Morgan in November of 1957 and from then on they created a home in Joliet, IL. Gladys was of Christian Faith until 1983 when she converted to Jehovah Witness. She was a strong advocate of higher education so much that she decided to pursue her dream of obtaining her GED all while raising her children and assisting in raising her grandchildren and being a awesome wife. She obtained a few jobs but her most satisfying job we being a mother and wife. Gladys also took joy in bowling and playing cards after church with friends. She enjoyed watching TV, listening to music and dancing especially to Smokey Robinson. Mrs. Gladys Mae Morgan leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Robert Morgan; 8 children, 4 daughters and 1 son, Willie Mae (Dan) Burks, Ronald (Patricia) Morgan, Linda Stewart, Yolanda McLemore and Karen Morgan; grandchildren, Lisa, Sonya and Darrin Burks, Patrick Morgan, Calvin Jr., Keisha and Micheal Morgan, Rochelle Bridges (Andrew), Sherry Conner, Andre Dudley, Orland, Maurice and Carla McAfee, Ashley, Edward and Termaine Morgan, Tonya and Ben Brown, Billie Ellis, Morgan and Taylor McLemore, Aniya, Amauri and Armani Morgan; 50+ great-grandchildren; sister, Dorthy Johnson of Miami, FL; a host of nieces including special nieces, Lewis Williams and Thersa Woods; a host of nephews; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins; 3 sisters-in-law, Pearl (Gene) Mitchell and Ethel (Woodrow) Nelon, all of Chicago, IL; 4 brothers-in-law, Herie (Mary) Morgan, Arthur Richards, all of Chicago, IL, M.C. (Elizabeth) Morgan of Joliet, IL and John L. (Bobbi) Richards of Cleveland, MS; a host of other relatives and friends including Mom’s bestest little friend, Myiona Heart which she affectionately call her “LaLa”. Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Morgan; daughter, Patricia Reese (Lois); sons, Calvin and Robert L. Morgan Jr.; parents, Willie Johnson and Jessie Mae Wilson; grandparents, Elizabeth and Bunny Johnson; sisters, Willie B. Smith, Essie Mae Johnson and Sadie L. Woods; brothers, Slyvester Gilmore, Theodore Johnson and Tyree Johnson; and nephew, Jessie Woods.
