Mr. Gilbert Lewis Bransford Sr.

BRANSFORD, Mr. Gilbert L., Sr., - Age 85 passed away Friday, April 19, 2019 at his residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, April 26, 2019 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, G-5433 N. Saginaw St., Flint, MI with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Samuel Berry III, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:00 AM Friday. Mr. Bransford will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1:00 PM-8:00 PM Thursday, with family present to receive friends from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM. Mr. Gilbert Lewis Bransford Sr. was born December 13, 1933 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Kenneth and Elotia (Bransford) Coleman. He transitioned from this life at his residence on Friday, April 19, 2019. Mr. Bransford accepted Christ at an early age at Freewill Baptist Church in Indianapolis. He graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in Indianapolis. After moving to Flint, Michigan he worked 2 jobs at Buick Motor Company, a division of General Motors Corporation and Flint Osteopathic Hospital. Gilbert did 27 years at the hospital and retired from Buick after 44 years of service specializing in Skilled Trades. He was a member of UAW Local #599. Gilbert enjoyed bowling, and loved attending live sports events and watching all sports on Television. Mr. Gilbert Lewis Bransford Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: loving and caring wife, Ella Mae Bransford; 3 sons, Gilbert L. (Johnnie) Bransford Jr., Bryan E. (Johanna) Bransford and Calvin L. (Ariedne) Bransford; 5 step-children, Timithea Micheal Johnson, Linette Malone of Flint, Martha Malone of Powder Springs, GA, Robert Malone of Flint and William Lipford; grandchildren, Gilbert L. (Lauren) Bransford III, Destin D. Bransford of Palmetto, FL, Bryan (BJ) Bransford Jr., Kalen (KR) Bransford, Calvin Bransford Jr., Bryanna Jarret and Asley, all of Ohio; step-grandchildren, Jenifer, Robert, Victoria, Dallas, Onasis, Martell, Shatory, Jaquan and Diamond; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Earnest (Pauline) Bransford and John Bransford; 4 sisters-in-law, Martha Sykes, Molly Hairston, Hattie Hairston and Lois Hairston, all of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Bransford was preceded in death his daughter, Lynnette; grandsons, Daryl Bransford and Anthony Johnson. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Samuel Berry III, Min.
