Ms. Geraldine Hobbs

HOBBS, Ms. Geraldine - Age 79, passed away Friday, June 12, 2015 at her residence. Family hour 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley St., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Tuesday. Ms. Hobbs will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Monday. Mrs. Geraldine Hobbs was born March 3, 1936 in Decatur, Alabama the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Judge and Wyley Lewis. She moved to Flint in 1951 with her family. Geraldine was educated in the Flint Public School System, graduating from Flint Northern High school, Class of 1954. She was a former faithful member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Flint and currently a faithful member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Geraldine was employed by AC Spark Plug, a division of General Motors, and a member of the UAW Local 651. She was married to the late Rosmond Hobbs on June 19, 1955. The two enjoyed 55 years of marriage and to this union seven children were born. Geraldine enjoyed fishing, crocheting, working out word puzzles, enjoying time with her family and friends, and shopping was her all-time favorite. Mrs. Geraldine Hobbs leaves to cherish her memory her 4 daughters; Karen Williams, Yvette Hobbs, Yvonne (Jerry) Neyland, all of Flint, Karla (Carlos) Wiley of Atlanta, GA; son, Maurice (Vanessa) Hobbs of Clarksville, TN; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Waniece (Leon) Smith of Grand Blanc, MI, Donna (Larry) Brown of Flint, Elizabeth (Thomas) Rowland of Memphis, TN; 5 brothers, Floyd Lewis of Carlyle, IL, Edward Lee (Altheia) Lewis, Marcus (Berthetta) Lewis all of Flint, Rodney (Carolyn) Mitchell of Las Vegas, NV and Tony (Sherry) Mitchell of Ishpeming, MI; sister-in-law, Lauri Mitchell of Swartz Creek, MI; close friend of the family, Jessie Rodgers and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Geraldine Hobbs was preceded in death by her husband, Rosmond Hobbs; parents, Judge and Wyley Lewis; brothers, Judge Lewis III, Carneal Lewis, David Lewis, Willie Mack Lewis and Dennis Mitchell; sisters, Emma Roberts and Mattie Ross; brothers-in-law, Richard Ross and John Roberts. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of McLaren Regional Medical Center, The At Home Network and the McLaren Hospice staff, Nurse’s Joy and Jaina, and CNA Shaquita.
